Sadly I live in a part of the world that will not get to see this event, so good luck and I hope the weather will play along for you as you can't wait for the next one
I was lucky to view and shoot the Venus passage in June 2012, but would realy like to get to see a total solar eclipse once.
Here is the picture I took from the Venus passage.

The center will pass about 70 miles NW of us here in Ohio so we plan a Spyder ride that day. Round trip will only be 140 miles. We ride farther than that to get a good breakfast.

We'll be watching from the Texas Hill Country. Not staying overnight, as rooms in the area have been booked for 2 years. A (really nice) cabin in Fredricsburg that is normally $285/night is now $1500/night, 3 night minimum. And you can bet someone will pay that, but it ain't gonna be me. Capitalism at its best.

I just bought rooms in Gainesville at the Hampton Inn for $80 before taxes. Drive straight over to Paris for 4 minutes of totality. 2 hour drive.
