How do you secure your Helmets when leaving your bike?
Helmets are not cheap. How do you secure yours when leaving the bike?

Set it on the seat and drape my crash jacket over it. Just because something isn't cheap doesn't mean it is a great target for thieves.

I put mine in the frunk and my wives in the trunk.

Riding two up we stow them in the trunk, keeps them out of sight. When the compartments are full during longer trips it forces us to carry them. There are ways to lock them to the clips on each side under the seat but that had be easily defeated.

If I'm on tour I use a custom length cable and the lock tab under the seat. I also have absolutely no qualms about carrying it into a venue and plopping it on a spare chair.

I have lid locks on the end of my bars, but to tell you the truth, here in Maine I am most likely to leave it over the center of my bars leaning on my dash, over my GPS. The lid locks work but the helmets hang upside down and make a good pocket for birds to nest in! Really it would take a real butt head to steal some else's lid and put it on their head.

I got a master lock that has about 10 inches of cable. Don't use it much. If anybody steals my helmet, they are really hard up for a helmet.

I have a pistol chain lock that I run thru the helmet "D" rings and around my handle bars.

Another lid lox & before that various pistol bicycle cable locks. Upside down not good in local drunk A** area thankfully have had no issues -personally simply do NOT trust. & when temps in triple digits it come indoors with me. Where allowed- yes helmets have been used as weapons (just be aware). Lid lox can be positioned where helmet can sit on top bar end. Least one side. Have even seen mounted on F3 grab rails

In the past 13 years I've traveled over 150000 miles on various motorcycles. I've never locked my helmet, and not one has been stolen. I usually hang it from the left side passenger peg, but now on the Spyder I leave it on the seat or the rear rack.

Last year after a MC club meeting a member and his wife stopped by a local hardware store to make a purchase. They'd left both their helmets hanging on their MC handlebars. While at the checkout counter in the front portion of the store, they saw two dirtbags in a car come through the parking lot and one dirtbag jumped out and stole both their helmets and then the car sped off. It all happened in less than a minute. So, you never know. It can happen to anyone at any time.

I just got a set of Lidlox.
I love them.
Before that I'd stuff one helmet in the frunk and another in the right side saddlebag.
I'm thinking of making some kind of cover for the helmets to use while hanging upside down in the Lidlox to keep crap from flying in.
I still take off the Sena headsets and my Garmin and lock them up.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

I am like "lowflyingowl" leave helmet on seat when going into a place for short time otherwise leave in rear or front stowage overnight. I even leave key in ignition when going into to eat or take a break. Must be familiar with a Spyder to figure out how to start and then drive away.

In the front, side or back compartments most of the time, but if those are full I use Lidlox (during the day - I take it in with me at night if it won't fit in the Spyder). Between the helmet and the communications system, I don't want to leave over a thousand dollars sitting on my seat for any amount of time, no matter how safe others have found that to be.

Here leaving the key in, is a $2000 fine.
In the winter, people leave their cars running while they warm up or run into a store.
Thieves loved it.
Besides if the key is in the ignition most insurance companies while not cover it.

I'm also a 'trusting' rider that has left my lid on the seat or handlebars for years and 100+ k miles of touring. Never had anything taken or touched. Maybe just luck or the places I stop have less 'dirtbags'. I only stow the lid in the frunk if weather calls for it.
