Need 2009 GS SM5 engine belt pulley install procedure?
I just picked up my 1st spider! The belt was off. I found the pulley bolt to be out and the pulley to be unusable. I ordered a new pulley. I have 2 questions.
1. Bolt torque spec for the pulley.
2. How do you keep the pulley still while torquing it? I appreciate any help. The owners manual doesn't specify.

Reason: fix year from 03 to 09
115 ftlb. Fit the pulley and belt, apply park brake or chock wheels to tighten bolt. New bolt require - order it too.
.... Let me add, .... The Fretting issue ( of the Pulley to shaft ) with the newer Spyders wasn't prevalent in the early years. However I advise you to find out what " Locktite " product folks here are using that needs to be applied to the shaft splines when you re-assemble .....Mike
I agree. Get a new bolt. Clean the threads and splines (both inner and outer) with carburetor cleaner to remove any oil or other contaminants and use the 660 Loctite. Then give it at least 24 hours to cure. You should be good to go with this process.
Outcast, to keep the wheel from moving when trying to torque the axle bolt, run a ratcheting tie down from the rear wheel to a forward mount and tighten it down extra tight. I have used this method on my Spyder several times. Good luck with your belt replacement.
