What could this mystery bolt on my 2020 RTL be from?
While working on the bike I noticed what I thought may have been a vent tube from the battery hanging down from under the bike. I touched it and it fell out. It was a bolt!
My vision is not all that good but when it was dangling it looked to be right of center about even with the center to rear front of the wheel. perhaps hanging from the belly pan or whatever is under the bike.
Bike has 1700 miles and the only work I have had done to it was the brake switch recall and the front frunk latch adjusted.
I tried removing the left tupperware to see how involved it is, but do not remember even seeing a bolt like that. I never completely removed the body panels as the Phillips Tuflock rivet was stripped, so I ordered some replacements and decided to do that when the parts arrive.
So the mystery is, was it something left over from the factory? Or who knows what?
Anyone out there have any ideas?
Bolt head is 10mm and stamped on the top is 8.8, under that is B.Y or 8.Y
Please look at the pix.
TIA and Have a Safe 4th

Reason: Expanded title to briefly ask the question... ;-)
My first thought was one of two bolts that holds the seat!
I just had mine off and that sure looks like one of those, you are missing a nut tho, if I am correct.
Item 20 and 19 on this partlist !
Don't think that is a seat bolt. I've had my seat & sidepanels off 6 - 7 times; there is little or no chance a seat bolt could make it past the gas tank and engine assy to hang out that far forward.
My first inclination...., it's a sway bar mount bolt. Have you changed your sway bar?
If not, take a look at the BRP parts diagrams and look above & ahead of where it was hanging out. Maybe the air intake box or anti-freeze overflow container.

Suspension: BajaRon swaybar (highly recommended!), M2 coil-overs, front & rear (also highly recomended!)

When I purchased the bike, it did come w/ BajaRon Sway bar installed.
Both ends are bolted w/ larger bolts that I see, what I did notice there is a little slop when I move from side to side. Otherwise, I see nothing but again I do not know what I'm looking for.
Can I view it by just sliding under the bike?

Reason: Caps & ' 's ;-)
Maybe the bolt that holds the bushing's in place for the swaybar?
Also being your bike is new, it could be that the person doing the final install of things at the dealer dropped it and couldn't find it so they used another.
I just looked at the pics again, at those bushings there should be a bolt going through them, is there? If so, I would tighten them, they look loose to me.

Reason: Added last sentence about loose bushings.
In the picture at the YELLOW ARROW there should be a bolt going through there on both bushings.
At the RED ARROW feel with your finger and see if the bottom of the bushing is flat or does it have a slight dimple in it? If flat, it needs to be tightened up a little.

I think you might be on to something here. Plus, let's check the two channel stiffener bolts. One on each side, just inboard of each bushing. Make sure they are both still there.

I was just gonna add that; thanks!

+1 for K80 Shooter and Snowbelt Spyder. Either the bushing bolt or the channel stiffener bolt.

Not Snowbelt Spyder but,
I helped install a Baja Ron bar on a 2015 RTL and it also did not have the channel stiffener bolts. I think that BRP started that a little later on.
Ok have the bike up on the lift, both bolts are missing that go through the rubbers, also in your photo with the red arrow both of those spacers/bolts ate loose/ So looks like I will be ordering parts. I do not know if the previous owner installed the sway bar or the dealer did but whoever did it did a very bad job. Im just glad I did not loose those spacers or shims.
Could anyone tell me how tight the bolts should be that go through the shims? Also I will be using blue lock tight on everything,

This is what got me to thinking that there was a problem with the installation. Glad that you found it. The Spyder will ride better when you get this taken care of.
I just want to double check on the parts needed. I suspect that I need
190 Screw-Hex.Flange M6 X 60
250000778
$4.19 x2
195Washer M6
250200029
$2.39 x 2
200Hex. Flange Elastic Nut M6
233261466
$1.89 x
See arrows in pix ( bad way to spend the 4th)
Those are indeed the parts you need, although if you don't feel like waiting for delivery there are undoubtedly places in Chicago to buy grade 8 bolts.

McMaster Carr and they will ship to you. I recommend proper length sleeves on all the channel stiffner bolts as well as proper flanged nylock nuts with serrated heads
