I believe they are BOTH GOOD! Only difference is tread design or footprint. But then again I could be mistaken, that happened once B4. Bill

I don’t think many if anyone has really had a chance to review the new 45. It came out I believe last October or November. My dad has over 125K on 2 spyders on the originals 43-RT’s. He’ll be putting a new one on late summer for sure. He will not put anything else but the generals. I will also be switching over either at the end of this season or next summer for sure to the new 45’s. I’ll be curious to see what others think. I’d assume like Knizar said its the same tire makeup. The pattern is a tiny bit different but no different than the 43 layout so it should be fine.

They are virtually the same. Go with the one that you can get the best deal on. A great tire for the Spyder.

I just put the RT45 on my F3s. Cannot comment on the RT43 because never had one. But the RT45 handles well. I run it at 20 lbs.
The RT43 was $81 on Amazon but went up to $107.

Bought rear tire from Discount tire, believe it was the 43, 215 60 15. Spousal unit mounted/balanced and little ol me performed the R&R, Also added Ride-On sealant/balance goo. Run 18 psi and have over 4k miles, really like the tire, added bonus, my speedo and GPS now agree with one another!

Put the same tire on my ‘14 RTS last year. Didn’t put any “goop” in tire nor any weights outside. My unit runs smooth as silk. BK says rear doesn’t need to be balanced, and my RTS says he’s right. jmho

For traction and longevity, the General Altimax is a superior choice. You lose about 3/8" of width and gain about 1" in height (about 5%). But the height gain will bring your speedometer closer to reality (the Spyder speedometer reads about 7% high with the stock tire).

We have mounted several for customers and found this to be universally true. The OEM tire almost always needs a gob of weight (fronts as well)

Off topic so excuse me but, would/do prefer the Altimax over the Vredestein Quatrac? I assume the Altimax might get better mileage but that's an unknown at this time.

General doesn't offer anything in a 15 inch rim size for the front of a Spyder. General had tires for our 14 inch rims a few years ago.
That's all I'm aware of.........Bill

Not now. His first spyder he used the OEM to 32k on the fronts. They really held together nicely. Then the Generals on the front for close to 42K with life still to go but he changed out then. They stopped making the general size for the front tires so He put the federals on for the remaining of its life to 125K. He was happy but not impressed with the federals but most of his riding was done in Arizona so they held together nicely. On his new spyder he had the OEM till about 24K (really cupped bad) and now has the Vredesteins on the front with the General on the rear. I am running the same setup. He liked my fronts Vredesteins (old series) and so he’s giving them a whirl. On the hot roads in Arizona they seem to be wearing a bit fast but then again thats not out of the norm out there for this type of tire. In the north east on chips, where I live, they actually wear very nicely. Same tire but 2 totally different types of roads.
