How many 2014 - 2019 RT's are fitted with '13 Heat Scoops? Any benefits? Negatives?
How many Spyder RT/RTS/RTL's with the 2014 - 2019 bodystyle have installed the 2013 Heat Retention scoops (The scoops under the mirrors for those that might not know).
And did you find a significant reduction in driver crotch heat? Any negative issues after installing them? Heat Mitigation scoops front.jpg Heat Mitigation scoops side.jpg

Yes, it makes a big difference for me. No down side.
Had them on my 2013 RTL. If I could find them and the installation instructions I would put them on my present Spyder.

They were put on my 2013 for the recall and they worked so well I put them on my 2015 right after I bought it. Biggest difference on the 2015 was the glove box went from hot to cold. It's pretty obvious that they keep everything under the tupperware much cooler.

I'd also appreciate some pics like I posted of the scoops on a Black Spyder, ANYONE out there with a Black Spyder with the heat scoops?

Installed on 2012 RTL love these scoops.. The 2014 RTS did not require them but it has an insulated glove box
Since I have the '18 Anniversary edition I was pondering adding either some gold or black carbon fiber with gold weave treatment, either to just the front glossy part or the black textured rear part of the scoop. Talking to both wrap shops and hydro-dip shops to see if I can come up with something. Wondered if anyone changed the black on black on black combination.

The trade off by adding the scoops and no longer being able to run the optional adjustable air deflectors for rider and passenger was not worth the sacrifice of decreasing rider and passenger comfort.
The use of much better insulation on the underside of the body panels reduced or removed heat while moving and while not moving in traffic or other times.
I have a 2019 RTL with the fixed clear air deflectors. Are the scoops even an option for this model? Also, I cannot find the actual installation instructions; does anyone have a link?

Do you have this written up anywhere? I notice that the "stuff" under my panels is starting to deteriorate and come off, so this idea interests me.

You remove the deflectors. Don’t they have two torx screws holding them on? But first, try to find the kit. Used to be on Amazon a lot. Links to install instructions below. They’re pretty brief. Folks on here that have done it can help further.

I have a 14 RT .... and NO heat scoops .... No issues at 125 F in bumper to bumper traffic .... If you need to replace OEM Panel heat shields .... there are many options on summitracing .com or in most Auto parts stores .....good luck ...Mike
I ordered the heat scoops for my '17 RTL. Never got around to putting them on. Looked at them an put back in the box. $75. If someone in WA. wants them I will meet you half way.
My reply from a couple years back still holds true for us.
On our 2014 RTS, ultimately I installed the BRP accessory adjustable deflectors.
No, the scoop kit was not installed.
The adjustable deflectors, while not air conditioning, work well on these machines. It gets hot here, and airflow over the rider and passenger when moving is important. The oem honeycomb plastic grilles do allow underbody heat to rise up and out when not moving. Add to this, proper operation of the fans directs air forward over the radiators when stopped.
One downside in my opinion to adding the scoops is that properly done, the inner acoustic panels are removed and discarded. The support function of the acoustic panel is replaced by a metal support.
My point about the acoustic panels is that those panels kind of double insulated the exterior body panels, the ones against your legs. Keeping those exterior panels cooler as best as possible is the way to go.
