Well after 82,000 miles I have to drop my Spyder off at the dealer for a little attention. My problem is front and rear injectors are running lean and my Spyder is not charging properly. I have silicone hoses on the MAP sensor and plenty of fuel pressure and volume. Spyder is only charging about .5 volt at 4,000 RPMS. Hopefully it is not a serious problem. I am worried about the availability of parts, if needed. Wife and I have a week off starting Aug, 22nd. I should know more on Monday. Bruce

The not charging issue will be about $12-1300. It sounds like the Stator in the mag dynamo is burnt. Mine went at 64,000 miles. If you take it out yourself youwill see the burnt units. They have to drain oil, remove oil tank, remove the shift pack then the outer engine side case to get to it. The parts to fix it were reddily available. I checked around to see if some one else could rewind it for me or make a strongeroutput one but didn't find anyone. We had this problem on the Yamaha Venturers and they were a piece of cake to change and there were a couple of aftermarket stators available for increased out put. Not so here that I could find.
Kind of a long way to come but Young's powersports in Bountiful,Ut did mine and a good job and quick too.

I got a call from local dealer and it is the Stator. Also purge valve and cannister. They are also replacing intake boots, mine are weather cracked, but are not failing yet. Also rear cylinder valve cover gasket. Total around $2,000 dollars. They did have a great comment to say to me. This is the first Spyder that have worked on with 84,000 miles. For me it is cheaper to fix than replace at this time. Bruce

Sandman we are going to try and go to Canada. As it stands right now US border won't let anyone in until Aug 21. So we should be OK. Subject to change.

Cannot thank Huff's Powersports enough. My Spyder is all ready to go. Around $1400 to repair. Not bad for what they had to do. I even got a fresh oil change. Hopefully I will be able to pick Spyder up tomorrow morning. Bruce

Fully vaccinated Americans were allowed to enter Canada as of Aug 9. You will need to prove you got the vaccines. You might check the internet for any updates of further information on entry requirements.
We are waiting for the US to open the border to us Canadians. An announcement occur on Aug 21.

Picked up Spyder tonight. Spoke to tech who repaired my Spyder. He showed me the old intake boots and the valve cover gaskets. There was not much life left in the intake boots, they were cracked. Valve cover gaskets had become very hard, gas line was cracking but not leaking. The stator was burnt in 3 places. One item the tech mentioned was, since he had the valve covers off he checked my valve clearances, guess what, they did not need to be adjusted. This was the first time they had been checked. Thought that was pretty good. I am a Happy Spyder Ryder. Bruce

$2000 isn't so bad given the age, and it doesn't sound crazy for the work. Congrats on such a long life, I sold mine around 68K.

Thanks everyone. My avatar is a 1975 Honda XL 250 that I bought brand new for $700.00. It has around 80,000 miles on it. It sat in My fathers tractor shed for over 25 years. My Nephew restored it three years ago.
