Houston area Spyder warranty/service work
Which of the 5 local Spyder dealers provides the best service and handles warranty issues the best? We purchased our Spyder from Mancuso Gulf Freeway but have not heard much about their service department. I have heard a lot of negative about Mancuso as a group, though. I have heard a few positives about Conroe Powersports and have not heard anything about Wild West Honda out in Katy.
Look forward to fellow Houstonian Spyder owners comments. Thank you.

Bought Spydee from Mancuso Gulf Freeway too. Don't use them because there are closer dealers. Could say alot of negative about Mancuso Harley dealerships too, but the one on the Gulf Freeway is not a Harley place, so can't say for sure.
Have had service and warranty issues with both Conroe Powersports and Wild West Honda. Both great places. I'm presently taking Spydee to Wild West Honda.
I'm sure others will chime in...

We bought our Rt from Mancusos in Lamerque. The purchase was great but the service is HORRIBLE. If you like to ride your bike don't take it there. They keep your bike for long periods of time and will most likely make several trips to have same problem fixed. I can't recommend another dealer at this time because I haven't found one that I am willing to send you to. We have been using Beaumont Tractor for now. They are better than Lamarque but not where the should be.

I have had good luck with Wild West Honda in Katy, I have not used any others for my Spyder.

Dealerships
My spyder was purchased from Team Mancuso Southwest. I don't care to go there for anything (unless I have to) because:
1) The service department treated me like I was invisible and when I did get someone's attention behind the service counter, he looked at me like I was the root cause of his problems.
2)The people working the parts department were only slightly better. I had to go out of my way to get someone's attention to ask about purchasing an aftermarket exhaust. When the salesperson learned I owned a Spyder, I was told that they don't stock anything for the Spyder. I felt like he was eager to move on to someone else. Not even a "sorry, we don't have anything like that in stock, but can I show you something else?". Keep in mind this was a couple of years ago and things may have changed, but somehow, I don't think so.
I have been to Wild West Honda in Katy a few times and the service department personnel were much more friendly and took time to talk and answer questions. Same thing with the parts department. They had no problem pulling catalogs and looking up aftermarket exhausts. They also made suggestions about different brands and sharing details about other customers that had purchased and installed louder pipes. Even though Wild West Honda did not have any aftermarket exhausts for the Spyder in stock, I felt like I had learned something and that made me feel like wanting to do business with them in the future. One thing I did learn about the sales and parts department staff is that they are instructed by their manager not to hover over the customers or follow them around the showroom. So, if you have a question, you will need to be proactive and chase someone down.
My two cents.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far.
I just finished visiting with my neighbor across the street, who sells motorcycles, and he highly recommended the Wild West service department. He apparently knows the service manager and is going to call him to give him a heads up that I am going to call and set up a 600 mile service appointment.
I will let everyone know how it goes.

Mancuso on the Southwest freeway has a very good crew, Wild West lately has let me down on the service side. Conroe is best left un said. If you need anymore questions answered go to Spyder Ryders of America Gulf Coast Chapter on FB. We will help you anyway possible.

Well, I had my 4600 mile maintenance performed today at Team Mancuso Powersports Southwest. Earlier in this thread, I posted my thoughts and reservations about this dealer from a previous visit. I can tell you now that things appear to have changed. Regarding the service department, I worked with Atrial D'souza and he was top notch. He took time to listen to my concerns and chase down some information that I had asked for. The maintenance took about 3 hours to complete.
During my wait, I went over to the parts department to ask about HID lighting. The sales person behind the counted quickly told me that there is no HID lighting available for the Spyder. Then, right after he said that, he saw in his catalog that there was. Oh well, he won't make that mistake again.
Overall, I was quite satisfied. My total cost was $362.00 which breaks down to a $69 oil change and 3 hrs labor @ $95/hr. Fortunately, no parts were needed.
On the way home I noticed the Spyder felt "peppier". I saw on the receipt that the throttle body was synched. I wonder if that makes a difference. Also, the tech (Adam D) pulled a code of C1290. Something to do with the Vehicle Control Module. Anyone know what that is? Other than that, no major issues in 5500 miles.

Hijacking an old thread....updates would be nice
Hey guys...
Just bought a new 2016 spyder from Mancuso SW. They seemed friendly and I even toured the facility and met thE can am certified specialist.
Was wanting to find someone to to install a new elka rear shock and in the near future an exhaust. They quoted me 240$ for the rear shock. But based on this rather old thread, maybe it's not a horrible price?
Does anyone have a better cheaper place? I prefer mom and pop shops because I like to support those but some opinions would be great.
Thank u!

I have continued to do business with Mancuso SW. The current service team has really made great steps towards improving customer relations and I am very happy with how I have been treated. I have read on this forum that other spyder owners have not been satisfied with this location (and some of the other Mancuso dealerships) in the past and I would ask them to give Mancuso SW another try. I cannot speak about the other locations, but I think the owners would be surprised. A man by the name of Tim runs the SW service department and I know that if any one of us spyder owners was not happy about something, he would want to know about it right away. You can read my earlier post on this thread from 2013 and see that I was not pleased at all with Mancuso SW but, again, things have changed. I would not hesitate to take my spyder to them for servicing.

Might try Goe Powersports in Angelton bought my F3T there and had good results with their service department. OIL CHANGE AND REAR TIRE REPLACED IN 1 DAY.

Resurrecting an old thread for any updates. I recently bought an RT from out of state but was wondering which dealership has a good service department if and when I need to take it in. I am in Sugarland so I guess mancusso sw might be the closest but could Ryde a few more smiles if there was a significant advantage...

Gulf Frwy is the best one I've dealt with recently. If its in stock they'll do it the same day. In Dec 2020 I needed a rear tire change and ended up at LaMarque because I was quoted $100 cheaper price for install. Unfortunately Lamarque did not have the tire in stock and it took longer to come in due to Christmas and New Year holidays back to back weeks. I was sent a text message from parts that it had come in but never heard from the shop. I had to call the shop about it and it took 3 days to get changed. The other times I've used them they have taken a long time to get stuff done. I would use Gulf Frwy location.

When you say Gulf Freeway Mancuso is that La Marque or South Houston?
To be honest after reading reviews a little confused about where to go to buy new RT

For maintenance and non-warranty work take your Spyder to Thornoli's in N Houston, (www.thornolis.com). Great service and much lower prices. He does all the work on my wife's F3L.

I have dealt with Wild West Katy for 35 years. As to purchasing a new bike from them I would not unless full retail price turns you on.
As far as service--they are the best
