What RPM range do you stay in (mostly) 1330 engine?
Curious what RPM most of you hover around with your Rotax 1330 Spyder? Also, do you have a high end rev where you tend to go before shifting?

I like 3500-4000 rpm range on my '20 RT. I rarely exceed 6000 unless doing a quick pass or 'spirited' take-offs.
'20 Spyder RT: Bajaron swaybar. Vredestein tires, Pedal Commander, Elka front shocks, GPS/USB/12V handlebar mount, Heli-Bars, Radar Detector, KOTT grills & vents, Shad top case, chin & DRL LEDs.

Another vote for 3500 - 4000. At these rpm's, shifting up is seamless and quiet. A great rpm range to cruise in. We do not use sixth gear unless we are over 60 mph. And of course...running it up for a "spurt" of speed for a pass, etc. also is good.
I still let the gears shift down on their own about 98% of the time.

For normal A to B trips I use 6th gear ( SE trans. ) at about 2200 rpm's any higher and it's above the speed limit on 98% of the roads I'm on.... In the " twistie's " it's a whole different thing .... Un-like the V-twins with a different type of clutch which required a minimum of about 3200 rpm's to stay fully engaged, I find the 1330 with SE trans is pretty much fool-proof from the factory ..... You can't LUG the engine even if you tried to ... the trans will downshift at a set level which has been determined by the engineers..... Also the SE won't let you Up-shift until a certain RPM is reached .....Mike

I don't know about others' bikes, but when the revs on mine drop below 3K RPMs, I hear a deeper note, like it's beginning to lug. So I keep it above 3K revs. I tend to ride aggressively and like the faster throttle response with higher revs. I don't go into 6th gear until she's in the higher 60s, almost or over 70 mph.

3K is my sweet spot mostly in 6th gear. If I'm merging into traffic I'll use the extra HP built into the 1330, but again 60 MPH is my comfortable speed range. When s**t happens it happens real fast, even at 60. Yes, I've driven faster before but I don't like it. I've gotten some unbelievable MPG at lower speeds and RPM's on longer rides while enjoying the scenery too; something you don't get at 75/80 MPH.

I agree with Lew, it depends on where and how you are riding, and I find the sweet spot shifting in the 3K - 3,500 range but will run it higher if I'm in tight twisties where I use engine braking to the extent I like.

Agree with Blueknight, on this subject, for me when cruisin, roundthe 2200/2400 rpm's, when really driving the Spyder (usually one-up), I tend to be round the 3000/3500 rpm, I simply don't see the need for 6000 rpm's, cause that's for flying really low...
I hit that high rpm's when taking a flying start, but I don't think the bike performs at his best at high rpm's,
Between the shifting range of 3000/3500 and 4000/ 5000 rpm's the torque is at his best for the 1330.
But I remapped the ECU, for more torque in the low end of RPM's, cause that just fits me the best.
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it........

Just an FYI here, The 1330 has a redline of 8100 rpm So don't think your over doing it.
with the PV3 you get it increased to 8400 and with the Monster tune you can up that to 9200

I usually shift between 3200-3500 and I dont go above 4k unless I am out on the highway. One thing I have found out with the twisties on some of these back roads around catoctin mountain is the Spyder is a bit harder to control going downhill on a 10% grade riding the brakes/downshifting. But going uphill you can stay in 4th gear on a 10% grade and have some real fun with the twisties!

Going down mountains, and we have a couple nice ones here, we usually shift it down to second and let the engine do the braking. it works fine in second coming down the stretches that it took first gear to climb up on. Very rarely do we even use the brakes coming down a mountain.

You are not being kind to your engine, especially during break in. The rings need revs to seat.

It's your bike but you really need to at least take it up to 2900 rpm before shifting (that's where the eco mode wants you to shift). I mainly shift between 3400 to 3600 myself.
I promise you'll have smoother shifts at these rpm's.

It's actually rated at 7250. At 5000 torque is already falling and @ 6000 it's falling like a rock if you look at the dyno sheet.

106hp @ 8500 was the rating.

3500 rpm is my usual for 2020 F3L depending upon environmental situations. Engine sounds and acts happy. Not frightened of 5000rpm+ but prefer to not waste too much fuel too often.
There is usually another way. 2020 F3Ltd.

Engine Rpm Sweet Spot
Seems like most have the Spyder 1330 engine 'sweet spot = sp' already figured out. For me I use 3k - 3,5k as my 'sp' for upshifts. Because I have a SE6 I just keep it at that 'sp' and upshift as I hear the 'sp' and check.
For the downshifting, 90% of the time I let the Spyder do it's thing automatically..
