Use of a towing strap?

Just wondering if a disabled Spyder with SE6 transmission can be towed with a towing strap?
Do the brakes still work without the engine running?
Would towing damage the transmission?
Where can you attach a towing strap?

Read your owner's manual. there is a specific section that says, "Do not tow..."

You can get Tow-eze Ring fittings to replace the nuts on the lower shock bolts in order to make it a lot easier and FAR less likely to damage anything when you hook on to tow/pull your Spyder up onto a trailer/rollback

But as mentioned by JayBros above & referred to in your manual, if you would prefer not to damage your Spyder in a fairly expensive way (those 'A' arms are the only place to hook anything, and they aren't massively strong under the 'point loads' a drag/recovery hook will impose! ) then it's best not to flat-tow it much further than straight up onto said trailer/rollback!

The problem with towing the Spyder with the rear tire down, is the transmission spins, even in neutral. Since the
transmission relies on oil pressure from the engine-run oil pump, if the engine isn't running, the pump isn't lubricating
the spinning shafts, bearings, and gears. Not good. Most bikes are also set up this way, especially if they share engine
oil and transmission.

Thank you all for the info and advice. An anchor ring on the shock/spring is a good idea. You don't expect to ever need to tow but it's good to have a plan just like my automobile has a removable panel in the front bumper to accommodate a towing hook.
