Road trip to Blue Ridge Parkway-suggestions
3 week road trip to Cherokee, NC so as to jump on BlueRidge Parkway from Wisconsin.
Looking for suggestions in Tennessee and Kentucky to explore.
I’ve done the Tail of the Dragon..... it’s just OK.
I like scenery, vistas, calm and peaceful areas.
Your experience is valued.

Chris, I have no suggestions, but you will not be disappointed in this journey, so much to see and experience just riding out each day and doing your own thing.

Were I in your boots I would plan to stop at Rough River Dam Resort State Park in KY and work my way eastward to include starting at Skyland Drive in Front Royal, VA and ride the whole length to Cherokee. Butler Motorcycle Maps has a G1 series of Southern Appalachia that you might find interesting. Check http://motorcycleroads.com too.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

If you are near Boone, NC, go eat at the Daniel Boone Inn. You'll thank me!

I ride between Boone and Sparta most weekends. Short trip (about 45 miles on the BRP) but beautiful ride. A few tight curves but mostly sticking to the 45mph speed limit (which I SWEAR I do, officer!) means you don't even lean into the curves. Stop at most of the overlooks. You just can't get enough of the scenery, IMHO.

living in the area of both i agree Mike

Be sure to check the road conditions on the website. There have been some closures due to washouts.

Been in this cave and rode the boats in the lake down there. It is a place you could spend some time and see some amazing sights. All underground and large lake down there.

Right down the road is Blowing Rock (and ON the BRP): very artsy, smaller. South of those is Grandfather Mountain. Very scenic. There is a place just on the TN side of the TN/NC border called Tellico Plains Lodge. Great log lodges, outdoor fire pit, rocking chairs on porch, indoor parking for your bike. We have stayed there twice and I can't recommend it enough. You get there via Cherohala Skyway. A great ride.

The Lodge at Tellico, https://www.lodgeattellico.com/index.htm, is open for business. They have a no contact check in and business is slow but they are open according to the owner today.

Tellico Grains Bakery. Great place for a snack or a sandwich stop. We have been there many times. Never a disappointment! Tom
Baloo is my name. Spyders are my game. Well, it's a doo-bah-dee-doo, yes, it's a doo-bah-dee-doo, I mean a doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee-dee-doo. And, well, now. Ha ha! What have we here?
