I’m a new Spyder owner—a 2015 F3-S. The previous owner had installed a standard CanAm brand windshield. This thing is good for keeping bugs off your chest. Have any of you veteran Spyder dryvers tried a laminar lip to keep the wind blast above your head? I am 5’10” tall. I’d appreciate some name brands/product numbers. Also advice on replacement windshields. Thanks in advance!

I have an F4 Customs Windshield on my F3-S. It works quit well. It is adjustable up or down, has an extremely sturdy support system, and is very scratch resistant.
I had a laminar lip on a motorcycle I used to own. It was ugly and did absolutely nothing. You can get a custom windshield that is the right height for you for hardly any more money and that will work better and look WAY better.

Thanks folks. I guess I won’t be getting a laminar lip. I’m going to investigate this F-4. Interesting, because I flew F-4 Phantoms in the Air Force and Alabama Air Guard for 12 years!
If you like the screen you have and just need that little bit more, I was running the gauge spoiler on mine with the Puig deflector. The Puig made a bigger difference than I thought it would. I had to move to a Route 129 shield due to some injuries that needed more relief from wind blast at higher speeds. But I was more than happy with the Puig at speeds up to 65mph... 20180709_144145.jpg20180709_144253.jpg

I have had great results with this from Amazon for a little more than $120.
I have a 2015 F3 S with Gustafson windshield and had a lot of buffeting to my head. With this addition it is smooth as silk and gave me exactly the calm ride I wanted.
I did not want to spend $400 or for an F4 or change out the windshield to another brand so this was a good solution for me.
Just my 2 cents.

Not many here are familiar with 7Jurock windshields. I have a 16" with a flip that handles the wind just right for my 5-9 height. They measure their windshields top to bottom of the centerline, so you can measure how much more additional height you require. I taped a piece of cardboard to my original 12" screen and raised it to the height that worked, driving around a bit to make sure.
Ours is a red, black and chrome 2017 F3 Limited. Bought new in 2/2019. The avatar is my first bike back in 1952, a Simplex Servi-Cycle. Photo taken at the Barber Museum.
Ricz, thank you. I checked the 7Jurock website and the choices were between 21” through 27”. Did not see 16”. A reviewer said he loved his shield but would have wanted one a little taller. He did not specify what height his windshield was.
Sorry Corvet - - I am not familiar with the w/s on your model. I needed some clarification before ordering and a phone call helped. Nice people. If interested, you might try that too.

Thanks, Jiffy. That’s a 28” F4 windshield? If you had it to do over, would you get the 28” again or something lower? Does the windshield “overwhelm the front of th F3?
There are two schools of thought re windshields: there are those who want too see through them and others want to see over them. I'm in the latter group, hence the 16" height.

I have grown to like the 28" Windshield. This is my first bike with a windshield. I don't have any issues looking over the top especially since the windshield is adjustable by tilting the top edge up or down.
Rattlebars, I've been looking at the Motoparty windshield extenders. The reviews sound good. I've measured the top of my windscreen and it's about 11" I'm thinking the smaller Motoparty might be the best for me. Please let me know how the one you ordered works out. It sounds like it takes 10 days to ship to you. Again, I'm 5'10" and I used to have a Windbender windshield on my GL1800 which worked pretty well. I'm just not into constant helmet buffeting. Thanks!

I'm a prime member for music, FireTV and 2 day free shipping. I should have it by Wednesday this week.
The Laminar Lip has been around for many many years and they WORK, I have had one
on several of my bikes in the past and I can recommend them.
many are adjustable so you can control the air flow

I have the Madstad system and really like it. I have a 20" light gray for touring, and a 14" dark gray for everyday. That said, over the winter I might spend $22 and try an ebay/Chinese deflector. WTH...

I have Laminar Lips on 2 Kawasaki bikes, one son has one on a Honda VFR1200X and another son on a BMW GS800. We find they function particularly well for us and recommend them.
