Terrible road and greedy politicians
Went for a ride this morning (it actually wasn't raining....yet). About 20 miles on what I've said is probably the worst road in Florida. Where there aren't potholes, there are filled potholes. If there are any areas without either, the road is a washboard. At 50 mph I literally was hanging on for dear life. At one point I truly think the Spyder went airborne. I had to hold the bars so tightly, my hands went numb. No lie. Interesting though, when I went over the Sebastian River bridge into Indian River County, the road became as smooth as glass. Apparently the politicians in that county are not as greedy as the ones in Brevard County thereby leaving enough $ to actually have some decent roads.

Thought you were talking about Illinois from the title.

Unfortunately, when I come out of my sub-division, it lets out onto this road and it is over 7 miles in either direction to civilization. Wife's choice, not mine. This ride happened to be to the South.

Folks you can talk about bad roads and airborne Spyders but please leave the personal feelings about politicians out of the reply’s simply because that will head in its usual direction here and end with a closed thread.
Thanks!

The politicians up there at least have an excuse i.e. snow and ice. No such problem down here.

We posted at the same time so I’m letting this one go.

Is this it? Google street view it doesn't look so bad. Maybe that's from a few years ago?

Ha, ha, yup, that's south Babcock street all right south of Malabar road. Try cutting across to US1 on Valkaria road if it's near you. I live just south of FIT so I avoid going south on that part of the road. I'll be north bound in 10 days to the north Georgia mountains again for my old club's annual rally. I sure hope that it's cooler in the mountains than it is here right now. I've been in this area for 40 years and can tell you all the (storied) history about the building developments along the Florida east coast starting in the 60's. Quite interesting. BTW, it was nice meeting you and your wife several weeks ago for breakfast.

County to county this an endemic problem nationwide. Some states are worse than others. Enter Illinois from any neighboring state and you see the roads immediately turn to s**t.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

I think the road in question is Florida State Rte 507. If so, it's not a county funding issue, right?
As to State-maintained roads, I agree road maintenance does vary from state to state.

Nope. The designation is COUNTY Rd. 507.
