Magic Mirrors Pros/Cons
Hi all getting ready to start doing most if not all my service on my 2016 RTL, been doing it on my wife’s 2014 ST for awhile now. The mirror issues is what scares me off but I’m leaning towards the magic mirrors. My question is for the ones who have them are you still happy with them any pros or cons. Thanks much for your words of wisdom, I’ve b the n reading and searching all the forms. Michrick

There are no CONS..They work Great and have had no issues coming off. If you feel the need add Tethers for added piece of mind.

The only con I found is the cost. After that it's all pro's.

but our benefits don't?

I have had mine on for a long time. I have hit a pot hole so hard that i had to get it realigned . and the mirrors never came loose.

Thanks all I’m going to order a set, I understand the cost but if your servicing your Spyder an break a clip your in trouble. The nearest good dealer (reasonable) is 1.5 hours from me. I’m pulling the trigger on these and maybe some gold plugs or dimple plugs for my oil plugs as well. Michrick

Both the Magic Mirrors and the hex head drain plugs are good mods. Have them both and they make maintance just that much easier.

Magic Mirrors PRO's, they work very well, CON's the price. I have both hex head oil plugs and Magic Mirrors (made my own) you can't go wrong with both improvements.

Totally agree...I was a bit skeptical, so I used a couple steel fishing leaders as tethers....but they haven't ever moved at all. The tethers come in handy for hanging the mirrors during service work though. No regrets here!!

I have Blueknight 911 version of magic mirrors that I did install the tether with for my piece of mind. No vibration and after about 8000 miles of riding no concerns. The tether was/is overkill for safety but worth it imho!

I had them on my 12 RT. They are great but the magnet did mess with my temp gage.

All you need to do to correct this is flip the magnets, one at a time, until the gauge starts behaving. Has something to do with the polarity of the magnets in relation to each other and in relation to the gauge. I have installed Magic Mirrors on two RTs (took them off my 2012 and moved them to my 2016) -- never had an issue with temp gauge on either machine (but I was careful to ensure that polarity on all the magnets was the same, I did this using another magnet as shown in Doc Humphreys install video).
All the best …. Ann

If magnetism is a problem you can reduce it by 1/3 if you only use two magnets and the stock upper slotted hook. Everything still holds on perfectly.

Personally I purchased the magic mirror and was not happy because of the magnetism issue, indeed, and removed them.
It is a good product and many people are happy but that was not for me.
However, I found and purchase the Magnetic Mirror Mounts from T r I c l e d. They are really very good, much less fragile than the magic mirror and no magnetism problem at all.
Ride safe!

If you are going to replace your drain plugs with hex heads go to Value Accessories and order from them They are high quality, and only 5.95 to 8.95 each. They are made by Big Bike Parts. #BP 5-303 for the 1330.

I had the wobbly mirror problem after the first time I removed some Tupperware. Lived with vibrating mirrors for a while. Then one time while I had the Tupperware and mirrors off, I removed the little springs from the mirrors, and squeezed the snot out of them with a pair of pliers until they looked cross-legged in my hand. I put them back in place and smacked the mirrors back on. The renewed tension of the springs has held the mirrors rock-solid. Didn't cost me a cent.
