It’s a good decision Deanna. At this point even if my body could pull 12 hours I know mentally I wouldn’t want it. Best way to explain it to new employer is to give the current one a months notice if possible and tell the new employer that rather than impact the old company by staying on you realized the job fit wasn’t right and left ASAP to create minimal impact.
Either way you can’t stay, it will take too much of a toll. Just my .02c worth.

After 5 days, 55 hours for the week, I was shot and was totally useless for any weekend activities!
If I am scheduled to the weekends, it takes me most of the week to catch-up on my sleep. Also,I feel useless during the week, but I get thru it. I use to work 4- 10 hours days at my previous employer. I liked that work schedule. I'm in my mid 50's with retirement around the corner.

I work 4 10's and that is the most I want to do as I am finishing up my career - I turn 60 in July.
My daughter is a nurse and does 3 - 12's but she is young and just starting her career.
Thanks, I'll fine something to my liking. I know it wont be a stressful. I am thinking of doing a job that has a 4 -10hours shifts. Or a Monday to Friday work schedule.

Last weekend when I finished working my 12 hour shifts, I was very tired. I know I wont be able work the 12 hours shifts at night. Those would also take a toll on me, and my life.

At my last job, I was spoiled because of my $$ that I took home, and the benefits, and the Combined Time Off( I was at the max level).
How can anyone make a living on low hourly rate jobs, I can see why people work 2 or 3 jobs just to make ends meet.
I work in a manufacturing field.
I am looking for an other job, but for now I am keeping my current job, until I find a better job,and pays more money.
So it looks like I wont be buying any new farkles for awhile.

Newest update 3/19/2019 @ 6:20pm
Well, I am not working the 12 hour shift job any more, because of the 12 hours shifts, they took a toll on me, ( mentally, physically).
So I have a interview tomorrow at a different job, the hours are 2nd shift nights. I am getting older, and listening to my body.
I don't how the younger/or older workers work the 12 hours shifts.
When I worked the 12 hours shifts (weekends) I was mentally, physically drained.
And it also would have token a toll on my relationship. I didn't wont that.

Temp employees are the way many, many, companies go at it these days. Good way to find out if an employee is going to work out and minimal complications in letting them go if it doesn't. My son and grandson were in temp positions upwards of one or two years before being hired directly. Good for the company. Often not good for the employee.

HI, I know how the "temp agency's work with the company's.
So when I started at my previous employer,( 20 years ago) I started full time, and I didn't go thru any temp agency. Also if the a company has a lay-off/or closes there doors the temps are the first people to be let go.

Younger people do long shifts all the time. Firefighters, cops, military, loggers, fishermen, etc.
It is all about what you are willing and able to do for the job you say you want.
