How can you make a flash drive (music)
Work on a 2015 rt limited. Can a fm transmitter do it and how?
-
I use a MP3 player on my 2014RT and even the apple player.
-
Where does the mp3 player go

The mp3 player is in my Zumo 590. I load music on a mini SD card, insert the card in the GPS and play the music that I listen to through my Bluetooth headset.

I plug mine in the port in the trunk you probably have a USB back there versus the 3.5 jack like I have???
Then setup your radio for the Aux and start listening to the music

I don't see a spot to put a mini disc in the Garmin. I have the 580 lm

Or they may have move it to the center console for the usb?? Maybe was on the newer Spyders? Like 16 up models??

One thing I ran into with the USB is that it must be formatted FAT32. If formatted NTFS it will not work.

On the 590 you must lift the battery to reveal the SD card slot; battery does not have to be disconnected.

Now that is interesting just one thing does the 590 not rely on any update maps that may have been downloaded on to the SD card due to its internal memory being to full ...what will happen if you remove that SD card and put one with music on it and is there some way to find out if any maps are on the card...THANKS

My PC tells me the 590 has 7GB internal storage of which 5.53 is used leaving me 1.48. I have the latest LM update NA City Navigator 2020.10 and software V 3.30. When I called Garmin in 2015 and asked how large an SD card to get they told me 30GB and said that when the internal storage was full the map update would partition and install itself on the SD card. My SD card now has just 3GB of music on it in an mp3 folder. I don't have much music on it at all, just enough favorites to keep me happy.

well, i put some songs on a mini flash and i tried to hear them thru an fm transmitter and nothing happened. i saw an auxillary thing but i see no way to hear the music...HELP PLEASE
-
The only way to hear thru the Aux thing is to have something plugged into the port in the trunk. (MP3 or equivalent) FM transmitter sounds like you need to change the radio to the frequency it is using like 89.5 or something. Which frequency is the fm transmitter using?

On a 2015 RT you need to place mp3 music files on a thumb drive formatted in fat32 format. Plug the thumb drive into the usb port in your trunk. Then use AUX input settings on your radio to see and play the music.

My 2015 has no usb port in the trunk. What can I do?

You have the round DIN connector? If so you will need the adaptor cable and an old iPod that has the flat 32pin connector. The tiny Nano 5 works well and are available pretty cheap on ebay.
Sorry, I may have been off a year on the change over from DIN to USB on the RT. Further search says my memory is off, they changed in 2016 with the new F3T. Sorry for the confusion.
