Just installed SPY-149 RT Missing Belt Guard and it turned out good. I had to custom grind the slots in the new guard for it to fit the welded ears on the swing arm but not bad. Just took my time, followed instructions and payed attention to detail. It should pay for itself in no time considering a new belt cost is around $400.00. Hope this helps some folks. Swing arm weld size gaurd needs custom fitment..jpg
I'm guessing you did not remove the swing arm to do the welding. What did you use to repaint the weld job?
I did not do any welding. What you see is OEM from the factory. The factory weld beads around the tabs vary in size so I had to make the new missing guard fit the welds. No painting.

I think the MBG should be one of the first things we add to new Spyders. Too many rocks/tar pebbles on the roads, that can eat up a belt. I installed one the night before I went on vacation. The first highway I turned on was being repaved and there was millions of those sticky tar pebbles. When I got to my destination I had to use my knife to remove those pebbles from my MBG and a few other places. Without installing that, I’m sure I would of had belt problems. Cheap, easy install and tremendous piece of mind. Good job MeudtPG!
Hi Woods. It’s a great idea!
When I first purchased my Spyder I prioritized the aftermarket parts I wanted to buy, and “Protection” was at the top of my category list.
MBG is easy to install; just watch the videos first, and be extremely careful w placement after you activate the adhesive. Once it’s stuck on, it stays on. lol. And that’s a good thing. Belts are about $300 (not to mention you’re unable to ride while being repaired) so for $45, great use of $$. I highly recommend it, when I first hit those tar rocks my heart jumped, then I remembered I installed MGB the night before. My vacation would of been over only 10 minutes into my trip if I hadn’t done that.
Good luck.
Jarred.
I installed one last year and thought I had it right so it wouldn't run the belt but I'm, guessing that vibration happens and the lowest tip of the MBG got rubbed away but it sill works and what's also weird is the belt vibration is gone.
All I did was clean the area where it was going to stick on, primed it and carefully placed it so it ended up between the tire and belt. The MBG already had cutouts for the area. This is the one I got. http://www.lamonstergarage.com/can-a...ster-approved/
The first farkel on my was the MBG ( missing belt guard). followed by the bump skid and high mount brake light. Latest farkel is an ECU Stage 1 up grade. So many in between

2014 RTS in Circuit Yellow, farkle-ing addiction down to once every few months. ECU FLASH IS GREAT.
Forgive my ignorance. So the F3 doesn't need a belt guard (only saw the RT listed)? Has one from the factory? Thanks Glenn
SpyderPops has one for the F3 Touring and Limited. The other F3s have a tube swing arm and there's no guard made for them that I know of.

Tri-Axis bars, CB, BajaRon sway bar & shock adjusters, SpyderPop's Bumpskid, NBV peg brackets, LED headlights and modulator, Wolo trumpet air horns, trailer hitch, custom trailer harness, high mount turn signals, Custom Dynamics brake light, LED turn signal lights on mirrors, LED strip light for a dash light, garage door opener, LED lights in frunk, trunk, and saddlebags, RAM mounts and cradles for tablet (for GPS) and phone (for music), and Smooth Spyder belt tensioner.
Love my Smoothspyder belt tensioner/belt guard. Well engineered for my 2013 ST-S 998. Easy install and tensioning, now just waiting for the weather to cooperate!

Thanks Idaho. Tossing up between A F3 S and Ryker. Gravel roads (including our driveway) and a council that likes to put tar down then sprinkle gravel on top in my area.

If that is a major issue I'd go with the Ryker!
