Review your past career, and home life and all other activities. I'm sure if you step back and take a good look you will find many instances where you have adapted to new situations. Point those out, even if they are not directly job related. When I went to work for the US Army in a QA job back in 1984 I asked the boss a few months later why he invited me in for an interview and subsequent job offer. His answer, "Adaptability." With the various jobs I had pursued he felt I could come into a new area and handle it. I did.

OR, take the initiative to get more education for yourself. Many states and counties have worker retraining programs because of the massive shift taking place away from low-skilled high-paying jobs. You're not the only one to get caught up in this phenomenon, which has been taking place in one way or another for several decades now.
You might also want to take a second look at your original decision to stay in Vermont; it's a very small job market.
Good luck, Deanna
HI,
I am going to apply at other jobs other then manufacturing company's. Next week I'll go to my local Career Resource Center, and ask them to help me( I'll take my cover letter, resume, Letter of Recommendation), also I'll bring a list of manufacturing company's that I have applied at in my state.
If I looked at other states( New York, New Hampshire,) for jobs, I would have to do a big life change, ( my mom, and my boyfriend & extended family are here). I don't want to move to an other state. Yea, Vermont is a very small state, It is a high tax state( taxes for this and that). But also Vermont has a very low unemployment rate.
Yes, I'm willing to accept a lower compensation package, and I would adjust my living style accordingly. But once I get a job I could work my way up to what I was making. I also have retirement around the corner.

Good choice. The last time I was in your position I was offered assistance in writing my resume. (I didn't think I needed help but I was wrong) I found that resumes are constantly changing. Companies use computer programs that search for key words and phrases in resumes. For example; I took the lead in... I was responsible for....I managed the effort of others.... etc. The people that work in career guidance do this every day, the rest of us only need a resume a few times in our lifetime. By all means, use all the resources available. Continued Good Luck!

Deanna, very knowledgeable people here on the forum are trying to give you sound advice. Please open your mind to the possibility they may know more than the folks who are closest to you. A job search in this market is challenging and you could benefit in your search by listening to some experts on the subject.

Here is an other job update:
I did apply for a job last week, and I got an email saying "At this time I was not the right fit". I responded back to the email and asked why???? I was not a fit for the job. I also asked questions.

What kind of way is that to treat someone? If it was me, I'd probably send them a snarky response asking when would be the right time to 'fit' into their precious organization!
But I'm not suggesting you do that!

At least she got a response. When I was doing some serious job searching years ago I was lucky to get any kind of acknowledgement for more than 1 out of every 10 applications.
