Will my new Spyder dock work on Tri Axis handle bars?? I got them!!
Hello all,
Recently purchased a out of the box 2016 RT Ltd. New to riding anything unless it has 4 legs!
enjoying learning about Syders and took a 3 wheel class, definitely a good thing.
Anyhow I realized I’m arm length challenged and 5’4 on a good day.
Read up on the Tri axis bars and I’m thinking of taking the plunge.
Question: I reacently had a Spyder dock (Lamonster) installed and love it. Will the Spyder dock still work with the Tri axis handle bars?
Any help appreciated
Pam

None of the other docking stations I have seen worked on the Tri Axis bars. Give Lamont a call and he can tell you for sure, and if they don’t fit maybe he’ll let you trade them on ones that do.

I've emailed Lamont with the question and will post the reply. Which model of the Spyderdock do you have?
I just heard back from Jacob at Lamonster and he says the Spyderdock will NOT work with the Tri-axis bars.

Sorry but it will not wok with those bars. Next best thing is our Spydercuff.

Pam, I wouldn’t let the docking station keep you from getting the tri axis bars, being comfortable while riding is much more important than the docking station. Get one of Lamont’s Spyder Cuffs and sell the docking station your arms, neck and shoulders will thank you for it.

Ok if I can’t use the Spyder dock on the Tri Axis handle bars can I mount the Spyder dock some where else? I don’t like the Spyder cuff for my phone.
What about on top of the dash? Suggestions?
Thanks!

I found that under the top rubber plug is a 1/4-20 threaded hole. I got a RAM ball and can mount my phone or handheld CB or whatever to that.

Correction: that's a 6 mm 1.25 pitch screw. Remember, these machines are all metric.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation, the Spyder cuff would just be providing you a way to mount the Spyderdock on your handlebars; it doesn't have anything to do with holding your phone.

Pam, can you post a picture of your current setup?
Where did you relocate the gps to? Do you want to have your gps mounted on the tri-axis bars?
Do you already have a Spider cuff?

There is indeed a gps mount for the Triaxis bars it is different than the mount for the regular bars not interchangeable .
I used a ram ball 6x1.25 in the hole at the front of the bars and I look over the gps to see the instruments, I don't have any need or desire to have my phone or anything else on the bars as a distraction my phone stays in my pocket where it belongs.

Here’s what I have. Spyder dock, Spyder cuff, X mount for phone and USB port under the Mount.
If I could have this set up with the Tri axis handle bars I’d be a happy camper.
Removed gps and use Waze on phone instead.
Thanks

I'm thinking you may be able to use the new gps mount with the triax bars as a location for the Spyderdock. May require fabricating an adapter from aluminum or drilling a new hole in the base plate of the Spyderdock. Let me think on it a bit

I’m using a 1/4-20 and it has no resistance so it fits.

This is my gps mount on the tri-axis bars. I think you could probably remove the gps cradle and attach the Spyderdock to the mount.

Here is what I think you should do. Sell the Spyderdock. Put a Ram Mount ball into the threaded hole at the top of the Tri-Axis center piece. https://www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-379U-M616 (I goofed in an earlier post. The thread is 6mm x 1.00 pitch, not 1.25 pitch.) Mount your X mount on it like you do now. The one downside is you will have to install a different power outlet somewhere if you need it. There are a lot of options for doing that.
In any case, get the Tri-Axis handlebar. It'll be one of the best farkles you can add to enhance your riding enjoyment. I write from experience!

I think the ram ball and moving my usb may do the trick. I see Lamonster has come out with a new phone holder that’s more sturdy than the X mount and could also be an option.
Seriously considering a custom seat also. Rich’s custom seats is here in PNW.
Most likely do both. Did get a quote from dealer of $250 to install Tri axis handle bars.
UtahPete thanks for the pics.

$250 to install the handlebars? That’s a deal as it’s a 6 hour job at an average of $130-200 an hour! Hope they know what they’re doing.

Got my Tri Axis handlebars!! Plus!
Hi all,
I just rode home with my new handle bars and it’s like a different bike! My neck, back, shoulders and elbows don’t hurt at all. Thank you to all who recommended them!
I also added (since the bike was in the shop and end of year discount) the Akrapovic muffler! It sounds great and has just enough growl for me.
One question......was it the 6mm 1.25 ram ball mount that fit in the TA handlebars?
the one from my Spyder dock does not fit, the threads are larger...

It cost me $300 for tech time which included handlebars, muffler and rerouting my USB port.
So I would say “yes”

It's 6 mm but I don't recall if it's 1.0 or 1.25 pitch. It's the same as all the other 6 mm bolts and screws on the Spyder.

Be sure to carry that 8mm wrench that came with the T-A bars with you, at least until you are absolutely certain you have the bars adjusted perfectly for you. I've heard of some folks adjusting their bars during long rides but I don't. The bolts to do the adjusting intentionally turn quiet hard.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
otherwise be a vulgar brawl.
