Sticky se6 shifter

Hello everyone. I need some advice before I attempt anything. I have a 2014 rts se6. I noticed that after it rains that my shifter doesn't want to shift up at times. I have to work it to get it to shift. Even sometimes it will not down shift and I have to work it by pressing several times. So again, it only happens after it rains. Doesn't happen when it sprinkles or very light rain. Any ideas would be great. Also, can the left handle bar area where the shifter is be removed to get access to the inside maybe to clean it or something. Thanks

How many miles? I just had shift problems with mine (would not go into reverse). I needed to replace the transmission oil filter. Supposed to be replaced at 28K. Mine was just replaced at 31K. It was NOT the shift actuator, which I thought it may be.

My 14 RTS had the same problem...I took the handlebar screws out and separated the control and lubed the shifter switch with WD40...Problem Fixed..

Sounds like a replacement of the left handlebar controls is needed. Water of any kind should have no effect on how it works.

Bulletin 2018-5 is specific to a series of 2018 models and does not apply to the op's 2014. Not the same handlebar controls.

WD40 is NOT a good lubricant. It dries sticky.

Some silicone spray would have been much better.

Thanks for all your advice. I took Larrd advice. I loved all the screws to find that there was a missing ball bearing and spring worn down. Went to the local hardware and replaced with new ones. Then I used silicone spray. Works like new again. Wow. Again thank you.
