New to forum----Hello
Hello Everyone,
I am a newbie to the forum & this is my first post (or attempt at it).
I have a 2014 Can AM Spyder RT-S. We are leaving on a long trip this summer and I am looking into the Show Chrome hitch (41-164) and trailer harness (41-162). I will need to go from the 4 pin flat ( I think that's what the harness has to hook to the trailer) to a 5 pin round plug so I can pull my friends trailer. Is there a ready made adapter? I cannot seem to find Show Chrome's website---only re-sellers. I have read a few posts on this forum about the Show Chrome hitch and harness, but would enjoy some more insight on this system---if others have installed this system on their Can Am's. Hooking to the swing arm does not seem like a good idea to me, but I see the Spyder hitch hooks the same way. Every bump you hit is trying to bounce the trailer off the ball ! Anybody ever had one come off?
On a personal note: I am coming off a 2006 Gold Wing 1800. I have taken many a good trip on that bike,( and I will miss it very much) but at 63 years old it was getting tough for me to handle (only in tight places like slanted parking lots, gravel and such). My wife goes with me so I was riding 2 up most of the time and loaded heavy. I told her it was either quit riding 2 up or buy a Can Am, and she said buy the Can Am---so here I am. I have ridden the Spyder about 3000 miles so far. It's not a motorcycle, but it is a fun ride, and I can still ride with "wingers". Some of them are considering moving to the Spyder as well. Regards---Dan

Welcome to the Spyder community. Your reasons for switching over are very common!
I don't know anything about the Show Chrome hitch, so can't help you there. But, the swing arm provides a very stable platform; the wheel after all is staying in contact with the ground whereas the body of the bike is moving up and down. Anyway, that's where they put it and it works fine for me. Over 5,000 miles towing both a dog trailer and a cheap Harbor Freight Tagalong, with no problems so far.

WELCOME!
Welcome! I live in the Columbus/Dublin neighborhood. Don't ride much anymore but have my Spyder on stand-by.... Hope to get it out and about when the weather improves.
If you'd like to get together for a cup of coffee, just let me know. I'm retired so my time is mostly my own... except when my wife has me out chauffeuring her to visit her favorite second-hand stores!

New to forum----Hello
As to the Show chrome hitch, have it and have towed ~10K with it without problems. I would strongly suggest that you take the pointy ended "cinch" screws that are meant to prevent any up and down movement and replace them with a flat bottomed hex head stainless steel bolt. I'll leave the question on the wiring to someone else. Oh and welcome to the forum.

...so be sure to read http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...-Spyder-owners. Welcome to Spyders and the forum. Same here - at 68 got a little wobbly so I gave up our two wheels VTX 1800 and got our Spyder. Really happy we did. Enjoy!!

Welcome
Welcome to the family. Check with some of the auto parts stores around.some times they have converter pigtails that may work for what your trying to accomplish. Or maybe you can buy the parts and make your own that works for you.

Thanks to everyone who answered my post----it really helps. It will take me a while to learn how to post & reply etc etc---basically to use the forum. I plan on doing most of the service work on my Spyder, so I'm sure you will hear from me again. Regards
