Tear in my seat
I ride a 2014 RTSE6 26K miles on it and the other day I found a little tear in the seat, right next to the "glove box" It is covered by my sheep skin, but since it gets a little bigger with each ride, I am wondering if there are suggestions on how to fix, patch up, or otherwise take care of it - short of buying a new seat.
thanks

One of those vinyl repair kits? Since its going on three years, you are probably not going to get a new seat from BRP.
Covered by sheepskin--put some duct or electrical tape on it to keep the split from spreading.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

Bummer...😠
There were some issues a while back with seats splitting at the seam up front. You could check and see if your in that group or if they will cover it. upholstery shop could fix it but if covered with sheepskin you could do as stated above. Contact cement and a vinyl patch etc...

Silicone
Ive have used clear silicone caulk on tears such as yours on motorcycle & car seats. Stops the tear from getting larger. Worked for me anyway. Just my .02

That was before 14. They used to have a seam by the glove box that would come apart but they changed the design in 14.
Dies your seat bump the glove box when you lower it? You might try adjusting the pin if it does.

Repair options
There would be two options for me. Either bring it to a local trim shop. They could remove the cover for a repair and reinstall to the seat pan. Alternatively, if the tear is not too bad, I have used tear-aid tape before with great success.

RTS Seat
I've got a original RTS seat that I changed out for Corbin. I would let it go for $50 plus shipping. Pretty much like new. Black and gray.

Shoe goo works very well super strong and sticks better than silicone and it stays clear silicone will pick up dust ,you have to be ready and work quick as it skins very fast have the right solvent soaked in to a rag and smooth sounds crazy but I have used it a lot and it works perfect to seal and stop further tearing

Seats
Hi there,
I also have a tear growing in the same area and also the stitches are coming off. My bike is a 2014 Rts with an extended warranty. I'm going this week to see if it's covered by my warranty. Otherwise I will fix it or search for a new one or even reupholster to leather.

Its a long shot but have you go rid of your seat?
Thanks Steve

I have one available.
But the shipping from Florida might be a lot of $$$$.

You should be able to get a stock replacement seat for a reasonable price from some of the members who have opted for aftermarket seats.

Post pictures of the tear, i know for jetksis those kits do nothing and only last few hours of use what i've done in the past is unstaple the seat to get to the tear and glue a bigger patch around the tear, thats the only sure way short of replacing the whole thing.

Hi
Having been in the custom seat business since 1967, I feel qualified to answer your question
DO NOT again DO NOT use one of the vinyl repair kits you see out there on the market, you will
hate yourself in the morning if you do.
Do yourself a favor and take your seat off and take it to your local automotive upholstery shop
they can fix it in no time and save you the cost of replacing the seat.
