My SIL and her sister headed to Tennessee to get a better view. My brothers boss and a coworker rented a house boat for a week.

I have so far seen one total eclipse in my lifetime. It was in the 1950's and I watched it from a backyard porch in Minneapolis, MN.
It was a bit scary to see night happen for a few minutes--in the middle of the day.
Alas, we are not in the "prime" watching area this go around. No intentions of chasing the eclipse to get an up front view.
Going to turn on the TV coverage on Mon AM this go around. It will be sufficient for us.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

A friend and her husband made their way to Casper Wyoming to see the event. Couldn't ask for better seats or surrounding countryside. I will be working and hopefully will be able to step outside a few times to see the progress.

My wife and I live in Caldwell, Idaho and may be able to view some of it while performing errands tomorrow. Can't rent a car anywhere around here with everyone (it seems) flying in, renting a car, and driving off to some vantage point.

Make sure it's a #14, a #12 of less isn't dark enough and you can burn your eyes!I
It looks like the weather may be on the cloudy side here and in the area south of here. We'll see tomorrow, I guess. It will be around 95% totality here.
On the road again...........and forever young!

While you're waiting: here's some "mood music"!
I'm in N. Alabama and will be able to see 90% of it. I tried over TWO MONTHS ago to find a hotel further North in Tenn. Anything near the Line of Totality for the eclipse was sold out months prior.
It's ok, I'll walk outside, watch it get dark, watch it get light again.

Sorry Not Me
I am not sure what the big deal is but i am far to busy to waist a ton of $$ to go see it and 2-7min of my life for a non life changing event.
I read some BS (While True i guess) "seeing an eclipse even at 99 percent or less: "It's the difference between getting five out of six numbers on the lottery and winning the jackpot." Now 5 of 6 #'s for the lottery will change my life but not the eclipse. Just my .02

Hi Bob,
Re: moved to a better vantage point
I can get 90% from my front porch. ~ 25 miles down I-5 south will be totallity. I'll check the traffic in the morning and if the roads look passable I'll head south.
Jerry Baumchen
PS) And if I only see the 90% that's OK as I saw one back in '79.

I'm right here in Nashville, with possibly up to 1.4m of my closest friends coming to visit. I can't imagine what the traffic will be like tomorrow about lunchtime.

I'll be watching the partial eclipse... and if I'm still around 28yrs from now, I'll be watching the full eclipse from my old folks home window.

We actually had a 4 day vacation planned for this week, and it just so happened to be in the NC mountains where it would be 100%. 2 weeks ago, my wife's aunt (who had been living with us and has alztimers) started having kidney failure and was moved to hospice. Because of this, we rescheduled our vacation for the end of September. Kind of glad now, because I understand that traffic will be a bear. One of the little towns that we visit has a population of less than 500, but this weekend it will grow to between 6k and 10k.
On another note, tomorrow will be a good day to be an optomitrist. Between the people going in with burned retinas from not having glasses, and the ones with pink eye from sharing glasses, this could be a gold mine.

Well that was a bust. Total cloud cover. So I got a couple screen shots of my Sky Guide app. But I can't load them- invalid file.

We've got a mix of clouds here... when they move over: things start to look interesting!
