Traansformers? Don't bother!
I took the family to see the transformers and could not wait for it to be over with. My wife fell asleep at about the two hour mark. You get to see a portion of the Spyder for a couple of seconds 2 or 3 times but never the entire vehicle. Then the movie is another 2 hours and 15 minutes of robots fighting. The graphics are amazing as ever but they could have made the movie about an hour shorter.
Save yourself $50 and go out in your driveway, look at your Spyder, make shooting and explosion noises with your lips while imagining if your Spyder could actually transform into an alien robot. Then wait a month and pay $4 to rent the DVD.
Plus you will get the added bennifit of pause when the Spyder is on the screen.
My 12 yo son liked it but also thought it was too long. He did not even notice the Spyders.

I just saw T2 this afternoon... I had high hopes for a transforming Spyder, but to no avail. Bummer.

Agreed....It is for kids and wannabe kids. Too much of ghetto/trailer trash fighting scene and too lil of meaningful dialogue. Good for getting your 2 hr nap .

Critics don't care for it but the VAST MAJORITY of those who have seen it really like it (A- rating from thousands and thousands of viewers).
I usually go to Yahoo Movies and see what is going on...
It's a summer blockbuster...it's meant to be mindless action...it's not trying to win any oscars...

I agree it was really long-- and the Spyder connection was way over-hyped.
It was about the same as the first - not horrible but not great either.
C- in my book.

Well, it's breaking box office records. I guess mindless entertainment is just what people want.

Bah, you old foggies wouldn't understand. I grew up on the cartoons. I thought the movie was decent minus too much comic relief. The first one was definitely better but at least we got to see Optimus kick some decepticon ass!
Also, I could watch Megan Fox fold laundry for two hours.
I give it 3 outta 5 stars.

So you're trying to say that the movie is as bad as your spelling?

This was not meant to be Gone With the Wind; Forest Gump or Driving Miss Daisy. For petes sake its a movie based on a toy.
As for the Spyders role in the movie - no not a lot of screen time but it has generated publicity for our ryde. It has been the major motion picture event of the summer so far. Granted probably unless you knew of the spyder you would not know they were there but I can tell you (especially when it comes out in DVD) people will be pausing and rewinding to find out what thoee three wheeled vehicles are that the nest team had. So take the movie for what it was some entertainment meant for a kid.

I grew up on the cartoons also. I loved it. Maybe it was because I went to an IMAX theatre with 6.1 surround sound. Maybe because Megan Fox and Isabel Lucas are so HOT. Whos knows. But I can not complain at all about paying the $15 to go see that movie. I give it 4 outta 5.

did anyone else notice???
Bob and I went to see the movie before the LA gathering. We both agree that there are about 5-10 sec. more of Spyder clips shown at the LA gathering than in the local theatres. I have heard of this before, slight editorial changes that lean towards the area or State where it is showing.

I spend over $15,000 on a home theater and stop going to the movies after that, I will wait for the blu-ray and will enjoy it in my own space and time. It's a mega box office hit no matter the bad reviews it is getting, after all it is a comic book come to the big screen just like Iron Man did and the second one will no dough be a hit as well.

I saw it at Hollywood this weekend, too. and fell asleep. My passenger said half the people sitting near us were sleeping too!
I thought it was strange that I could fall asleep during the big fight by the pyramids, but when I went to see it again with another friend and her boy's 13-year-old buddies (their 2nd time), I had trouble not dozing off at the same place in the movie.
I guess even chase scenes and spectacular CGI effects get boring after a nonstop hour!
I must say, like the man said, those who grew up watching the cartoon on TV would be totally jazzed. My late husband (younger than me) would have loved it. I had to see it for him, in any event.

I give it a C-
The first one I saw on video, I left after 15 minutes.
2nd one was the premier, had to stay...way to long

Can I assume the BRP 'Premier' in LA was at an IMAX ??

SAVE YOUR MONEY WAIT FOR THE DVD....BUT STAR TREK IS A MUST SEE!

There are pleanty of "kid" movies that have a plot and entertaining for adults young and old. I just think that they could have put more thought into some dialog rather than "well lets just add another robot fight scene".
I have taken my son to many kid movies that I figured I would sleep in only to be surprised in the hidden adult humor.
They missed the mark. I am guessing people are rating it higher just because of the CGI and the very nice looking actresses. Young enough to be most of our daughters BTW!

If you didn't watch the cartoon in the 80s, it's hard to comment. These movies are supposed to be like the cartoons, which they are...even the voice of Optimus is the same guy who did the voice in the cartoon!
They had to pack a brief story and tons of action into 30 minutes, back in the day...now they pack a brief story and 2 hours of action...
This is like one long cartoon and for those who grew up watching it...this is what it was like...and we loved the cartoon for that...
GI-Joe will likely be the same way...who cares...it was a fun trip back then and the movie, I'm sure, will be tons of fun!
Critics are not in touch with us simple 'middle Americans'...I didn't go to see Transformers expecting an Oscar winning presentation...I went, in some ways, to re-live the cartoon I used to watch as a kid...and for that, it was well worth it!
