What's the farthest you've traveled to buy a spyder?
Guys, I found a good deal on a 2014 RT. Problem is it's 500 miles away. Just wondering?

Rochester Ny, to New Hampshire for trailer
I drove about 7 hours each way to pickup an awesome deal on a brp 622 trailer. The drive wa uneaten half the fun, I took my car and trailered the trailer back on an open trailer.

For a used bike I traveled 300 miles, but, it was the bike I wanted. For a new Spyder I went 150 miles.
I found a new Spyder 600 miles away at a dealer in Texas where they have great prices. I took that price and added the $$$ it was going to cost me to go get it (Time off from work, trailer rental, gas, hotel). I then shopped that price locally. I came within a few hundred dollars and only had to go 150 miles. My wife drove me to pick it up and I rode it home all in less than one day. My shopping was all done over the phone.
Do your homework and you'll get a great deal.

There was a great deal on a used 2012 RT-Limited in California that was posted on Spyder Lovers. I flew from Raleigh, North Carolina to Sacramento, spent the night at the seller's house, and started the ride back to North Carolina the next day. A great trip

I traveled over 1200 miles to buy a motorcycle and ride it back home. This was after being off of motorcycles for over 10 years. It was a great adventure and I got to see some places I hadn't seen before.

I went 250 miles each way to buy my first Spyder used. My current one I bought new from Pitbull, 300 miles away.

Just curious
For those that flew long distances and drove new machines back. Is there any worry about long distances and highway riding like that for the break in? I would like to consider doing something like that for my next Spyder and would love to fly and drive, but have heard conflicting reports.

Just out of curiosity,no criticism meant here but for those of you who did a fly and drive,or drove to pick up a Spyder or drove and trailered, after figuring in your travel costs was it still cheaper? If you drove home did the savings allow you a trip you wouldn' t have done otherwise? Did you not look at the cost of getting it home as part of the purchase price.? I am interested in your thought process of going "out of the neighborhood" so to speak.
I drove 100 miles to buy Charlotte. In my case there were no Spyder RT's any closer. I still travel 100 mi for any service I don't want to do myself. There is a closer dealer but they have treated me so poorly I wont go there.

Well, for me it was a NO brainer saved over $3,000 on the best price I could get in Vermont ( April 2014 ) or $2,500 nearby......They picked me up in St Louis, ($ 115.00 Air-fare ) maybe $250.00 in expenses getting back ( but they were FUN spending ). I had great weather and really enjoyed the trip....( I'm a drive-aholic )....Would I do it this way again, I don't think so....Age is a factor now, and IMotorsports sells at great prices and ships FREE.............so it depends on a lot of factors .........Mike

It looks like I get the "wimp" award. My first three were purchased from the dealer that was 15 miles from home. The next two from the same dealer. Now I live 5 miles away. They are the only place now in Alaska, but the prices have been fair, and the service has been pretty good.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
