A I missing grommets? I took spyder into dealer a few months ago before putting into storage. I don't remember the panels having a large rubber washer on one post and the other going into a grommet? Photos of left bike with panel off and picture of left panel showing a large rubber washer?

It looks to me that the rubber grommet that's on the panel belongs in the hole that doesn't have one in it.

The ruber washer you see actually goes to the upper hole on the bike and is just a spacer. The bottom two posts that I thought fit into grommets are the ones in question. One oust has a grommet on the bike, the other is not there. Same on both left and right side panels?

...That hole needs a grommet just like the one to the left.......it's AWOL via the A-hole at the stealer ............This is why I don't go to the dealer's......because if you do....you have to dis-assemble your Spyder to see how much DAMAGE - THEY have done...........Not all dealers - just all the dealers I have dealt with .......sorry for your loss...Mike
Thanks Mike, maybe I can get them to replace them along with the missing washer for the crankcase drain plug that was not in the maintenance kit?
........I just checked mine, and don't let them tell you it was pushed in and fell into the engine compartment .............That CAN'T happen....the grommet is designed with a larger flange on the side that is painted ( the outside ) so it MUST be put in from that side......good luck.......Mike
We see them shy all the time. I believe it is a step in the process for our Ride Now dealership! Just about every one we service is missing at least 1! A tip: spray windex on the grommet when assembling to act as a lubricant. When it dries, it works fine. Oil or grease would stay too slippery.

Mike, we see them pushed through all the time, and we even find some on the belly pans. They don't pull off but they do push through. I always suggest that you check all panels when you pick up your Spyder from service. If you don't take time reinstalling the panels you will push them through.

Thank you both Joe and Ann. You got me thinking, I should just buy a few extra and have them on hand. I don't imagine they are that expensive......
I think they go about $4 - not exactly cheap but cheaper than replacing a panel if it flies off! I'd keep an extra one of the oval grommets on hand, there is a round one but the others are all oval.

One other thing, that long curved side panel is a bear to get on - we have found that it works best to insert the forward prong first, then bow the panel and insert the rear prong.

Just ordered the missing ones and two extra, along with the broken hanger clips for both mirrors that I discovered were also broken.....which I'm pretty sure I didn't break.

What were the part numbers for the grommets?
Thanks,

705000321 is the oval shaped grommet (actually it is oblong). 705003264 is the round one.

I was able to cancel my original order and place it with the correct part. Strange that they call one a washer and one a grommet, when they both appear to be grommets?

Ann, I've had my panels off & on at least 20 times and I have never pushed one thru. But I have pulled some out on occasion.....The flange on the grommet is twice as large on the front as it is on the back, and PIN you push in is pointed in the front not at the back sort of like an arrow-head.....But then again mine are Eastern Grommets ...............Mike
Most every bike with plastic sidecovers have the
same type of fasteners, I have lost covers myself, off
my GoldWing because of missing or loose rubber
gromets. For that reason I made teather straps
that will hold the cover on the bike or trike if they
should blow off at speed. If I were you I would go
to a RedWing store and buy several long leather
boot laces and attach one end to the Spyder and the other
to the inside of the plastic cover that will save you
$$$$$$$$ if you loose a side cover they are costly
the leather lace will keep you from loosing yours...

A quick tip that Harvey showed me is to put a small tywrap through the grommet and secure over the top edge of the panel. You will never loose a grommet again. Neither will your dealer....

Your Spyder is too new! Wait till the grommets get hard and you will start pushing them through especially those shown by the OP.
Last oil change the ones on the right side (that get the most heat) were harder than a rock on my 2011 RTS!
FYI I got replacement grommets from Value Accessories a sponsor here:

When I removed the same left side panel after the dealer had completed did the first check-up and oil change oil change, on my 2013 RT Limited. There was NO GROUMET and it had the exact rubber washer on the pin that you push into the gromet. IS this the dealers or are they coming from the factory like this
Well in your PIC see that torx bolt head .....it would be hard to miss seeing there was a Grommet missing next to it.....At the factory they have a box with 100 + grommets and 5 more boxes on the floor.....I think the tech at the dealer screwed you...................jmho.......Mike
