Good morning all. My name is Joey and this is my first time on the forum and I live in Harvey La. Just out side of New Orleans. I've been interested in the Spyder for awhile now but just now thinking of getting one. When to New Orleans power sports on Sat to look to see what they have in stock. They had the one I like. The F3-s in white with manual shift. It is $19k. This will not be my primary vehicle as I have two suv's and my wife has hers also. Does this sound like a good price? Just started talking to the wife about it on Saturday also. Lets just say she has not told me no and I can't get it! . She actually seems kind of interested in them. Any ways, Im just doing homework until I decide to get one. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Look at the F3 and the RT and then buy the one that will work best for you and the Missus.

Hi Joey
Hay dude...Mike Oliver here...I live in Airline Park in Metairie and was just at that store on Saturday looking at that yellow 2014 RT-S manual and a 2014 RT-S auto that's at their sister store in Lafayette. They offered me a deal on either with price.
If that price was out the door, that is a very good deal.
Looks like I'm going to purchase a used 2014 RT Limited that's a private sale in Opelousas.
Hit me up if you like. And make reservations to attend CajunFest in Houma this March. Send me a PM if you'd like my contact info.
Welcome...I'm only joined the forum in September

Just had the dealership try and call me about the F3-s. Going to cal back when I get a chance. What questions should I ask him? Is it possible to get the spyder without cash down? What can I ask for?

Let us know what you decide.
$19,649 is the MSRP for the base F3. I would try for a bit lower, or some extra accessories at no charge. $18K would be a ball park--IMO.

Hi Mike,I remember when they built Airline Park and the strip mall on Airline Hwy. Is Jefferson Downs still there or have they developed that land into something else? I used to walk up from our house on Garden Rd to the corner there on Airline and Hickory to catch the bus to go to school.
Back to the thread,Joey welcome to the forum. I just got my Spyder in June. That sounds like a good price for a new F3. Make sure you ride one and maybe an RT before you buy, with your wife if possible. If she is going to ride with you she needs to be happy too. Enjoy the ride.

Got home from work and talk to the wife about getting a spyder. She said "cool". Also talk to the guy at the dealership. I told home that I will be financing it as it would be the easiest for me. Asked him about how much I would have to put down for down payment. I think he said that I can just keep the money that I save up for it and just save it for the payments. Does this sound right? If I'm financing it I don't have to put down a down payment? Or am I not understanding him? Confused!

The amount of cash down required is going to depend on your credit history and the lender requirements. As far as what to ask for, whenever I buy a vehicle, I always squeeze the dealership for at least the first service free of charge. Sometimes I have been able to get a couple free oil changes as well. Value-added is always a good negotiating tool.
Good luck. Post pictures when you get it!

I always advise to check with banks or credit unions (best) to arrange your own financing and get a good rate. Some dealers invoke dealer reserve. Dealer tells you its 10%--the rate is really 8%. The dealer pockets the extra 2% up front--dealer reserve. That's what sounds like is going on here. The more you finance, the more the dealer puts in his/her pocket. Caveat Emptor.
And yes, if you are financing, put down as much as you can afford. Less to finance, less interest. Many people drive off the lot "upside down." They owe more than the insurance value/trade in value should they need to dump it in the first year or two. This also gives them the chance to sell you GAP insurance. Another money maker add on that puts additional money in the dealers pocket. The GAP insurance covers the difference in case the vehicle is totaled. Your still stuck if you want to sell the off though.
Hope your purchase goes well.

Oh ok. When I talked to him I remember asking what I would have to put down but he only told me maybe 20% since I'm financing. But he really did not run my name for a credit check yet cause I needed to think about it and talk to the wife. Maybe I will talk to my bank and see about getting it financed through them.

the Airline Park strip mall is still there going strong...Jefferson Downs property is now the Kenner Convention Center and a Casino.
Hickory, Dickory, & Dock are still going strong

Hi Joey,
when I deal for vehicles, it's easy to find out dealer cost for a car and work UP from there. I also sometimes are satisfied to pay MSRP, but that's "out the door" including tax, fees, registration. Usually those three things are around 10%, so I'd try hard for $17.7k .
you have to plan for the dealing to go over a number of days...a week is best. I tell them what I'm willing to pay and then walk out and see if they will chase me. I also definitely get pre approved for financing and don't even mention it till the purchase deal is done in writing.
buying vehicles are really 3 deals to make...the purchase price...any trade in price...warranty cost, and financing. keep them separate.
you absolutely, absoltively should purchase the B.E.S.T. warranty for a total of 5 years coverage. I always say you don't start a spyder, you boot it up. Very sophisticated and very expensive to diagnose & repair.
hit me up...I know the sales manager and 2 of the sales folks are father/son who I like. I'm happy to meet your there and help out. It would be like "good cop, bad cop" beating up on them !!!
cheers,
Mike

Man thanks. I know about can am products as I have a 2006 seadoo rxp. Of course it's not stock anymore but I love it every time I ride it. I talked to Dustin today and seemed very knowledgable and confident that I will get approved for financing. I might ask you to come and meet me the next time I go.

Got a approved loan with my bank!!!
Now to see how much I can get the F3-S for. I was thinking of maybe getting the windshield and a few things in with the deal if I can. I wonder how much I can get them down too?
