    Default 010 or 012 RT

Looking at upgrading to an RT for my wife, 2 in my my price range 010 with about 10,000 miles and a 12 with 19,000. They are both Convenience and audio models, both about the same price. Any reason to pick one over the other? I know about the potential throttle body issues with the 10. Your thoughts. Neither have any warranty.

I'd seriously look at the 2012...
Before the repairs on the 2013 models; they were the best of the 998-equipped bikes...
I loved my 2010 RT; but it did have it's share of difficulties...

    Default 12

From everything I have read the 12s were about the best year made before the 14s came out.

    Default Well..!!

being that they are both within your budget, I agree with the above to go with the 2012. I have a 2012 RS and by then they had ironed out most of the kinks..bit of a stumble in 13 then a whole new ball game after that. Don't worry about the extra mileage these machines are good for much much more...

While they both may have similar selling prices if you are using a bank they will look at the 2012 more favorably then the 2010. I really like my 2012 and at 15k it has been great.

    Go for the 2012.
If you can, make sure the following options are included, or perhaps you can negotiate in the price.
RonBar. The pre 2014 RT's all NEED the upgraded suspension.
Spyderpops Bump Skid. You need the added protection.

There are a bunch of other options that make a good machine better.
    HMT third brake light.
Backrest. For 2012, go for the Utopia. It's needed for longer trips.
Bluetooth system to listen to passenger/music wirelessly.

I don't mean to bloviate, but you did ask.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

I had a 2010 and at 25,000 miles I traded up for a '14. never had a problem with the 2010. But being a newer model the 2012 was a solid unit. Newer is better. '13 not so much unless the recall mods were done then I wouldn't have and reservations about getting one. Good bikes. Great fun.

I would definitely go with the 2012 RT. I had a 2012 RTS and it was trouble free till I traded for a 2015 RTS. It was probably the best year for the RT's as far as dependability goes. Good luck.
