ARACHNID VEE RUBBER TIRES
After reading many threads about the best rear and front tires, I decided to research the Arachnid VEE Rubber tires and found them on sale on the motorcycle super store. Since I only have 5300 miles on my 14 RTL and the OEM tires still look good, I decided to buy a new rear and two front tires. I hope I have not jinxed myself, and the new tires sit pretty in my garage until needed. The most important thing is I have the new tires when I need them and I won't read "back ordered." Good sale at motorcycle superstore, if you are interested.

I just looked at the web site and there was no listing for 15 inch fronts for 2013 and later Spyders.
Did you get the right front tires?

Did you also get the tires with the newer compound, that have a higher capacity rating?

And for the rear hope it wasnt the older Vee tire as it had problems with spinning on the rim!

Thanks billybovine, after reading your post I realized I ordered the wrong size front tires. Fortunately I was able cancel the front tires and keep the rear, which is the correct size.

Finless - I asked when the 225/50/R15 was manufactured and was told in July, 15. Unless I was lied too, I believe it is the newer Vee tire.

This was posted a couple of weeks ago; I hope that it helps!
"#V35001 is original fronts 165/65 R 14 the old front is rated 47 H
#V35002 is original rear 225/50 R15 the old rear is rated 68 H
The new ones are
#V35003 is the new fronts 165/55 R15 the new front is rated 55H
#V35004 is new rear for the 1330 225/50 R15 the new rear is rated 80 H"

I have one of the 35004's waiting to be put on for my 2014 RT. However, I don't know that Vee has discontinued the 35002. I would not rely on the mfr date, which is on the side of the tire, but would rely on the load rating on the sidewall of the tire. If your new tire is an 80H, it's good for the RT. If it's the 68H, it's good for the RS but too low for the RT. I would guess, in my opinion, that they may continue the 35002 for the RS's. The stiffer, higher load-rated 35004 might be too stiff for the RS. So my advice to den2614 is to check the load rating on the sidewall.

If you are running the Arachnid rear be sure to run at least 30 psi in it. I have had 2 of them and at 28 psi the tread will wear out on the sides of the tire. I have one on my Spyder now and have been running 30 since I put it on and so far, with 2,000 miles on it, it looks to be wearing evenly. This tire is the 80H rating but was manufactured in early 14 so it probably isn't the newest compound.

What tire pressure are you running...I'm running 25psi on my vee rubber and I have 1000 miles on it so far and I can't feel too much different from stock tire...except it seems to wear better

So far 25psi but may up it a bit..You can run them anywhere from 25 to 30psi. I can tell on the bumps also versus the stock I had on mine.
I can tell on cornering its more responsive..Have run on wet roads but no rain driving yet..
In the winter I may change the fronts to Vee Rubber..

Guys, I'm on my third Arachnid and I am here to tell you that you need to run at least 30 psi or it will wear out on the outer edges.

Live and Learn,
Finally opened the new 225/50/R15 tire that I received from Mcy Super Store. Well low and behold, it's a 68H tire. I called CS and even after I told him that I specifically stated I have a 14 RTL, he sent me the wrong tire. Well it turns out that the 68H is the only tire they have for the Spyder. Live and learn. At least I don't have to pay for return shipping. Oh well, guess I'll research the General
Defender.
Question: I just measured the tire treads on the OEM tires. The rear has 5mm tread and the fronts have 6mm tread left. Am I good for awhile? I have 5,500 miles on them. Thanks from a member who has learned to not trust salesman.

Actually the General Altimax RT - 43 had better performance numbers for anti-hydroplaning, wet and dry traction than the Defender. Plus it's quite a bit less money, there are quite few people here using this tire now ........................Mike

Glad you checked. If you have 5mm tread in the center, you've got lots of time left. Why not find another vendor who has the proper Arachnid? There are a couple in this thread that have gotten them -- send them a PM and ask where they got them. I got mine direct from Vee Rubber as part of a compensation program (that means "free") so I didn't have to go thru a vendor.

Will do. Thanks. We're all so used to seeing the Kenda's worn in the center that it's hard to imagine being worn on the edges. Now if only we could even that out... Your 30psi may just do that.

gypsy_100, please give me the website were you ordered the Arachnid. I'm assuming you are talking about the H80, not the H68.

Arachnid
I bought one from them also a couple of months ago and it is also sitting in my garage since my Spyder has to be inspected next month and the old Kenda (12,700) won't pass our state inspection as is. Mine is the 35002, unfortunately I guess but I'm going to have to go with it.
I'll be interested to hear details and see how mine performs.

If you don't mind, can you tell me what the tread depth is on your Kenda at 12,700? I've got 6,300 on mine with tread depth of 6mm. I just want to see how far I can go on this tire.
Thanks

Arachnid
I just emailed VeeRubber and called the Motorcycle Super Store. My question for VeeRubber was specific as to the tire and whether I should have a 35004/80H as opposed to the 35002/68H for my 2010 RT.
My question to the MSS was do I have the correct tire for my Spyder and do they even has the 35004. They think the 35002 is fine since I'm not heavy and don't ride two up very often. They also don't carry the 35004..why, they couldn't tell me since it's obvious that VeeRubber sells them.
Thoughts?

Pam, I'm down to the wear bars in the center. I've been running 29lbs for the last 5,000 miles and my dealer tells me that's too much for that tire (he says 25 is better) and why I still have outside tread and not inside. Makes sense.
But, I feel very lucky to have gotten that many miles out of the tires when I compare mind to what I read here. I'm not hard on tires, obviously.
