I feel your pain. Took me a while to stop straddling obstacles like I was on a four wheeler. Not much space between the inside of front wheel and outside of rear wheel to work with.

Yup!
You need to work on your attention span... keeping your eyes scanning ALL of the time!
If you can't miss something; you can try putting it JUST to the inside of one of your front tires...
Hopefully, you will also then miss it with the rear!
Heh. Yeah, that was disconcerting me at first, but then I made a game out of it. Adds back in some of the minor amount of excitement I lost going from 2 wheels to 3.
Have 2015 RT and love it. Only problem is damn it's harder to miss pot holes or man hole covers with 3 wheels.
Yea, I learned on my ride to Cody not to straddle even a small obstacle on the road like in a car. The Spyder is awful low to the ground, very little space between blacktop and the skid plate. Thank goodness for the skid plate when I straddled a little bitty rock just outside Red Lodge, MT.
Try driving in Louisiana! fyi our bobble heads get whiplash!!! Sweet spot seems to be under the mirrors/floorboards, just between tire width wont work on every pothole but fair majority. G'luck. Enough miles you'll get in pratice

Works for me to imagine the zone from right outside edge of analog tach to outside of right mirror as my right side free zone (at pavement level) and left edge of analog speedometer to outside edge of left mirror for left side free zone.
I am in Mexico, so you can imagine there are alot of roaming dogs here and there. I noticed something today and already had realized this before but not with the certainty I did today. Dogs are just totally confused by the Spyder. I have almost killed about 10 of them. They don't know what to do when they see me, they just sorta get dazed and stand there. haha
And yes, about straddling potholes....I am in major pothole city, I have learned the fine art of avoiding them, I cannot always do that. But I am good at it now. Also what bothers me even more is the roads that are rough, that have been repaired to death and they are so rough at times it is hard to control the Spyder if you hit a patch suddenly....whew...

L, if you must hit a pothole ...do it with the rear wheel, not either of the fronts............The rear can take considerably more punishment than the fronts without any serious effects , like suspension and /or alignment issues .................JMHO.......Mike
Thanks for that advice. My Spyder makes this click sound on the rear end if I hit something big, deep or have a drop from something. Is this normal, it is just one "click" like it is hitting the max for the shock or something? Is this a normal sound. It has only happened like 10 times now or so, doesn't seem to cause a problem, but it is definitely a warning about something.

You've got a bit more than 17" between the inside of the front tires and outside of the rear tires. I only ride where potholes are 17" or less..... yeah right!

L , we have the same RT. You need to check how much air is in your rear shock !!!!.....Lift the seat , on the right side , by the passenger is a Schrader valve. Check what the air pressure is.....at your weight, 35 lbs riding single should be fine.....It will take up to 80lbs. ,,,but be careful about putting air in from a commercial source. The air bag isn't super strong and I don't believe it can take much ...OVER-PRESSURE ...without bursting, so a small 12 volt or even a bicycle pump would be advised !!!........Also if you have NO AIR, it could be like mine was ,,,it had a leak, and needed to re-placed under warranty.....good luck.....Mike ...............PM sent
Just hit the POGO button and jump over it. Yes the POGO button. It is located on the left, or is it the right handle bar on the back side. No it is the left on the back. I just push it in with my index finger and my 2014 RTL jumps over anything including tall buildings.
