Hello everyone. Just bought a 2010 Can Am RT and coming from a motorcycle does the steering get easier over time? Lol

As long as your machine is in good working order Yes the steering will get better.When i first rode ours it was not fun at all but 1000 km later it was great.Just make sure tire pressures are set correctly.And lots of practice.

Hi Dman78,
Congrats on your new bike. Yes, steering gets a lot easier over time. I would suggest a relaxed grip, develop your push pull feel on the bars. And think of driving a 4 wheeler to compare steering. In a short time you'll have a lot more confidence in the steering of your RT. Tire pressure is something to be vigilant about for best results. Cheers!

Spyders are a different feel than 2 wheels . Take it easy for a while , corner a little slower than usual . With a few Rydes under your belt things start to become a lot more fun , once you get used to not being able to lean the bike to corner ... Kinda like half bike half snowmobile . You will appreciate the things the Spyder does better than a two wheeler soon , we will let you discover those as you go

Best advice I ever received. Your hands are for steering only. Use a light grip. Your knees are for holding you on the Spyder. Move your knees into the provided part of the seat that is on the side of the bike.

Do you have any experience riding ATVs? The Spyder will feel much more like them, than anything else.
It'll take a couple of hundred miles for you to start to get acclimated.

Read the Do's and Dont's post to get a ton of good information on how these machines work. It doesnt take too long to get used to them, and when you start feeling comfortable they are a blast. Welcome to the club.

Glad you found us. This is the best place with the best folks for all things Spyder (and since we all have belly buttons and opinions, you may get input on all things NOT Spyder ). Lots of gurus on here. My first Spyder was a 2010 RT...yep lots of on target advise already posted. Steering takes very light touch...500 miles and you will be "there". For me I had to realllly concentrate to get away from my death grip. even now if I feel my shoulders creeping up toward my ears I know it's time to breath, relax and loosen up those hands. NOW I can share that the power steering assist went out on my '10....serious hard steering, not imossible but dang harder...
Really glad you are here...hope our paths cross out "on the trail"...right now my trail has 2 feet of snow and more predicted in the next 24 hrs. But my maps and planning 2017 rydes is alive and well.

To both the spyder world and this most informative site... you are going to need that 300-500 miles to get to know your ryde well. Once you do you will relax and find they are very easy to drive. The fun is in the learning and you are going to have a blast....

Is your new ryde "stable" at speed?? Meaning does it pull left or right? If so a wheel alignment by Joe and Ann at Squared Away will work wonders.

There is a learning curve. The is not a two wheeler so there are some differences. Give it 500 or so miles, and you will think better of your 2010 RT. I had one of those also.
