Belt damage
So I'm in for 9,300 service, and I'm told that the belt has been damaged, probably from a rock. There is a little fraying on the inner edge and part of the teeth. This will be an $1,800 job with both sprockets having to be replaced. Anybody want to chime on on this?

Agree...
would have to see the damage to determine if those parts need changing. It would have to have been a big Rock and lodged for time and noticeable. ..jmo

I agree, there's a smell test here that doesn't pass. From the 2015 F3 parts list the three parts requiring replacement total $865 in round numbers. Does the Spyder dealer work out of a bay in a Ferrari dealership to justify a grand in labor?

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

If you have collision coverage on your bike: you might want to give your insurance agent a call, and see if this is covered.

I have had two drive belts replaced. Both were $350 installed. Belt was about $250 ish. Tows were extra.
$1,800?...hold on to your wallet, protect your rear, and get at least a second opinion.

I am surprised everyone so far is shocked that dealer is charging 1k in labor. When I complained that the dealer wanted 300.00 for labor to install new front shocks that should at most take 1 hour, people pored out their hearts for the dealer saying they had to make a living!!!!

Very rarely does a sprocket need replacement with the belt. Would have to be something substantial to have caused sprocket damage and probably would have shredded the belt in the process. Sounds like the belt was misaligned for a while and it damaged the side.
It would be curious to get it correctly aligned and see just how long it would last. I don't think a little damage on the edge even warrants a change. A rock hole in the center, or rib damage, maybe stress cracks on the outer surface, yes. But a little rubbing damage on the inside, probably not in my opinion.

Try to get a picture and post it. That should tell a lot.

State inspection....
I was charged a full hour of labor for PA state inspection at the new local dealer. I was only there for a half an hour & it was a new vehicle. Probably didn't check anything & just put the sticker on. I'll find out if they are a good dealership when I take it back next year for front end alignment & oil change.

I will post a pic, but the dealer claims that BRP wants both sprockets replaced when the belt is. They said there is a slight chip in a rear sprocket tooth.

In Virginia the state inspection fee IS the labor fee for the inspection. So I think you've already found out if they are a good dealer or not.

I've been riding belt drive Harleys since they ditched the chain. If the belt has a hole in the middle, maybe caused by a stone or gravel, don't worry about it. If you have a tear on the edge, replace immediately. I don't see any tear in the belt that would warrant replacement

Haven't there been some issues with sprockets on the F3? I'd get another dealer to look at it and push them to contact BRP about warranty.

I would keep riding it ,but inspecting It before every ride, looks ok. $1800 is every high, I would inspect the sprockets myself.

As long as the out side of the belt isn't ruptured I'd run it. It's the outer band that transmits the power. If you have a couple nicks on the pulleys I'd clean them up. My guess is that belt will last many thousands on miles.

Here's what my owner's manual shows for how to deal with belt damage:

Since yours looks pretty minor; I think that just keeping an eye on it, is the way to go.

A file can clean up that chip on the sprocket fairly easily. Did that to mine about 20k miles ago when I got a chip. Still running the same belt with no problems. Make sure it is smooth to the touch. I would monitor and ryde it. That is very minor damage.
