My lovely State requires that the engine and frame VIN numbers match. Sure it is easy to see the frame VIN, but where is the Serial number on the engine located, and just how much work is required removing panels to get a picture of the engine VIN.
Other posters have corrected me, the Number DO NOT match. And after inspection, I find that they are correct. So let's just say the State requires that I submit the engine number along with the VIN.
The last post in this series gives the short version how to find it. It was much easier than I thought!!

I feel your pain. I just went through this same thing with PennDot.

HEY PAUL, You will need the Vin# and the engine # to apply for the new MN title. But when you get your new title, the engine # will not be on the new title.
both #'s do not match. Just went through that with N's Spyder.
The engine serial number and VIN on my Spyder are not identical. You can get to the engine number by removing the left side #1 in your owner's manual and finding the picture in post #9 above. I had to use a mechanic's mirror to read it.

Thank you for your responses, the picture was especially helpful because then I knew what side to start on. I worked too hard by starting with the mirror and removing panels till I found the engine. Still couldn't see the VIN.
So for those searching for this info....All you have to do is remove the lower, small panel on the driver's side (left foot) by the air duct (The one with the "CanAm" logo on it,) no screws to remove it !! Then remove the three screws that hold a small computer box, and it is right behind there and easy to see or take a picture.engine number (2).jpg
