Default Hello All New to Spyder Touring and Board

A new to me 2015 Spyder RT Limited 1 year old and 800 miles and here I am.

Why? Because one of us (she) couldn't take coming down the mountain and the lean on the K1600GT.

She's a keeper though,(the Spyder too) so here I am.

    Any suggested mods immediately?

Welcome to the group. I agree with what others have said re the lights, sway bar, and laser. However, I got some good advice when I first purchased and that was to ride a while before you decide what you need/want to make your riding environment more enjoyable. There were several things that I thought I needed immediately. Some of them I eventually got, and some I never got because I changed my mind after riding for a while.

Whatever you do, you will have a blast on these machines.

Congrats on the new ryde... I would not recommend much till you get some ryding in and see what you feel you need. We kinda go on the three step program....safety, comfort and bells and whistles.

    Default Welcome to SpyderLovers

You already made one of the best modifications by

becoming a member of Spyderlovers, the next

modification I would make is to go to Spyderfest

next April 26, 27, 28 & 29. In Springfield MO. Not too far

from you at all. I have travelled there from California

3 times, but missed the last couple. I can say this

was in the top 3 things that I have done in my life.

(and my life has been pretty great)

Here is a Thread from my first experience back in 2011,

    http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...pyder-included

Don't just read what TicketBait (me) posted, read each

posts response and how many lives were enhanced and

solidified by a positive change. (Thats how I read threads

here on Spyderlovers) I know I am in the minority, thats

ok, just want to say this can be an experience like none

other if you choose. We had so many fewer

members 5+ years ago than we do now. My statement

sounds confident, but it's not intended to be, let me explain.

I was really drawn to the thread you created, and the fact

that you posted a profile photo and where you are from and

what you did and even joined a group of fellow spyder riders

in your state. So many members here join but don't share

anything about there selves. they have there reasons, but if

they shared more about the bike they rode or where they are

from or their interests. They would gain motor answers and

    still be anonymous!

Believe it was the 2nd or third Spyderfest ever. Which

only got better each year. Thanks to Lamontster and

PitBull ( I usually refer to people on here by their handles

rather than their real god given names) (because there

are too many Bills, Johns, Steves and Nancy's ) but only

one Handle per person is allowed here, so you picked

Jlbmpo, so really enjoy it and make the most of it! So

here is a link to your best modification. YOUR experience,

Yes your experience going to Spyderfest Please read every

thread like a good novel in this simple thread. Sit in your

    favorite chair
and make your hot chocolate with marshmallows.

And just enjoy life. You've been to the mountain top, now

figure out your way to share the wonderful experience of

    riding your roadster.

Just to scare you a little more before hollowed, here is a trailer

created byTicketBait for the Spyderfest in 2012

    Scaryhttp://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...ney-Spyderfest

Where you will receive your best modification not just for

your bike, but for yourself. Friendship from so many other SpyderLovers.

Many happy miles to both of you!

    Best,

    TicketBait

I agree with the members who say to ride it awhile before you make any modifications. The 2015 RT's handle pretty good without any help. I did add armrests for my wife though. Gotta make her happy!

I would highly recommend one of the first "farkles" to be a custom dynamics high mount rear tail/brake light. When we brought our spyder home in the rain visibility from the rear was lacking. This unit makes a huge safety difference. And since we are usually doubled up and loaded down we found the BajaRon spring adjusters and sway bar to be a HUGE improvement in the ride - all in the form of safety. Swing by, I will even install them all for you.

I agree with jcspyder: ride it for a while, and then you'll know for sure what changes you will want to make!

Default Welcome I am also quite new to the spyder world myself

This site is a great place to find info I have been lurking here ever since I got my spyder and have learned very much. I found out one of the first things I will be adding is a mud flap. (just got it in mail yesterday) I rode down a dirt road in the rain on a long ride with my Goldwing friends and found out about the mess made by no mudflap good thing they put me in the back on that ride lol, but I agree with all the advice given about riding a bit first and also any lights added are for sure in my book one of the biggest safety related things you can do. But after just a few months of riding so far I have a few items on my to do list for my ride. Being from up here in the great white north country my ride season is a bit less for me so I will have more time to add things than ride very soon. Enjoy your new ride I am sure you will I have been liking mine more and more the longer I have it. Also my best find on this site was a thread about do's and don'ts with your new spyder it explained a lot about things you may have wondered about or will wonder about. Have fun and ride safe.

Congratulations on the new RT. You and your wife will really enjoy it, I'm sure.

Here is a link to a short list of additional ideas when this questions was last asked about two months ago. You might enjoy looking at that thread.

As you can see by the link in my signature, I have done a good number of mods. But to answer your question, the one's I considered "essential" for comfort and safety (in pretty much this order), were the BajaRon Sway bar and shock adjustors, the FOBO TPMS, the Custom Dynamics high brake light, the Daytime Running Light bars, and the backrest.

The folks here on the forum call them "farkles", so... Happy Farkling
But like others have suggested, you don't have to do it all at once.

Well space out your mods "FARKLES" as it's more fun that way Make a list & prioritize per your riding style. Reading the listed farkles some have in their signatures will point to some of the best not just the most popular Also closer to N central AR is SPYDERPOPS. Well worth a call & visit, as well as PITTBULL & Lamonster Garage in Springfield Mo just to get you started Enjoy your ride. Keep an eye out for Cruzr Joe he's in your neck of woods & loves to Farkle

Like others have stated take your time and decide as you go as to what is important to you and your wife.
For us it was safety and comfort first like short windscreen for my wife and third brake light in the rear and a louder horn. The rest came after.

    Welcome.
Baker-Built Air Wings are my favorite Farkle. Belt tensioner is also a plus.
I have a Diamond R cup holder that will hold a Yeti cup.
SpyderPops LED tail and turn signal lights are a big plus.
Gear Brake Brake light modulator is a good safety enhancement.
Ultimate driver backrest if you do not already have one.
A good Nelson Rigg cover or Ultimate. I have 1 travel and 1 full.
That's my list, not as long as some.
    Laser alignment is a must.
