    Angry bolts!!!

    hi all,
Is it me or has anybody else noticed that the bolts on the spyder are all way to long, so it makes it them hard to undo even the so called simple jobs . so I don't think the people at BRP can measure , or the must be a parts bin full of odd ****e bolts !
Also I think popeye must have tightened them all on my spyder. cause they are f######g tight.

Cheers from across the pond Nasty.

    Default LOCTITE

    YES, you are correct....
BRP uses LOCTITE on all fasteners.... that's why they are tite...
would you prefer them loose....??? i think NOT....

    Default bolts

I understand that, but Honda and others do not use the Loctite as liberally BRP. On most of the bolts it is not needed,
but then again that is only my opinion.

Get a star bit set and an impact driver - then the length becomes irrelevant.

a lot of the bike makers use thread locker in one spot or another even honda. Harley uses it on all most every thing. as far as them being too long it's cheaper to stock say a 25mm as a 15-20and 25mm, its also easer to keep them sorted, and not mixed up.

    I'm sorry...
I just don't find this to be an issue with me.
I'd rather have too much bolt: than too little!

There will be times when the extra length is a godsend when it comes to catching the threads in a clip on a flopping piece of body plastic behind the one you're fastening!!!

I think some versions of these are used for the airplane engines. Longer bolts with plenty of threadlock are probably a good thing when you are above 10,000 feet? Or even below 1,000 feet in the pattern...

    Default Not a bad thing....

Having them all the same length is not a bad thing. sorting becomes a non issue and the longer the bolt the longer it wil take for it to back out if not loctied...Here is a sample of different lengths on a spyder Se5...the oil filter caps for the engine and the transmission have different lengths and many have mixed them up breaking the bolt or stripping the threads. Had they been all the same length no problems...Do wonder who decieds how long and what color locktite.....
