Default Approaching hurricane / Maggie Valley

Has anyone heard whether the approaching hurricane is going to affect the Maggie Valley area I understand that it is supposed to hit Myrtle Beach on Saturday morning.

I would say that Maggie Valley is far enough from the coastal area that there would be little or no affect on the weather! Y'all have a good time!!!!

Typically when a hurrican comes ashore in NC, it will actually pull the weather (clouds and such) away from the mountains, unless it goes as far west as the Charlotte area. Right now it is forecast to be just east of I-95, and possibly into the triad at the farthest west. We are in the Raleigh area and the wife was just asking me about it. I told her that since we are leaving tomorrow and coming back Sunday, we should be safer than if we stayed home. I will just batten everything down and give my neighbor my contact numbers. I also have a weather alert that lets me know what is going on at my home in Apex.

Watch out for wind. According to the tracking forecast on Intellicast.com, which is usually pretty good, Maggie Valley is on the western edge of the track where winds will be in the 10 to 40 mph range on Saturday and probably Friday.

Meh... That hurricane won't bother Maggie Valley... MV is on the other side of the mountains. I live in Charlotte and we've gotten storms like this before... Charlotte gets some sprinkles and winds.

Now, there is some rain forecast for maggie valley, but that isn't due to the hurricane.
