Nope!! You can't readily change the rear sprocket on these things, the computer isn't readily re-programmable & generally gets all upset if you try!! So basically, what you got is all you get!

There is a different sized rear sprocket used in Europe & Australia, and others have tried to do what you are thinking of without any success. So there is some discussion on this & the problems encountered already posted here on the Forum somewhere in various threads; if you're interested, a bit of time searching should bring it up & provide some illuminating reading for you - who knows, you might just come up with the idea that makes it all possible for everyone!

There are no alternate sprockets available for the RTs...

I don't know what five grand on the tach reads on the speedometer in 6th gear but if you're not in 6th just go ahead and run it at whatever RPM you want so long as you're not blowing the red line which, I believe is 7,500.

I don't understand why you would be riding at such high rpm. 85 in 6th gear is about 4,100 rpm and I doubt you get to travel at higher speeds than that very often.

There's just no need to twist the 1330s up like that...

    Question Open roads

When last I road from Las Vegas to Reno there were many miles at between 80 and 90 mph.The 1330 motor in the RT never seemed strained or overreved at those speeds and above. I think the 1330 motor could run all day long at 4500 to 5000 RPM with no problem ( other than speeding tickets). I'm sure BRP has tested its motors at high RPMs for long periods of time. I know the motorcycle companies test thier motors at high RPMs for long periods of time.

But.....4500 RPM on the RT will get you a serious speeding ticket anywhere in this state.

    Maybe more.

How about telling us what motor you have, There is quite a difference between the twins and the triples.

I run Cocaine at 110MPH all the time, just not for too long at any one time. Depends on traffic and how far up the road I can see looking for our boys in blue. Ya gotta have fun sometimes. 116 is my top speed right now. Not bad for an RTS SM6.

My dealer told me some of the early 2014 Spyders had the 998cc engines in them before going to the 1330cc! I don't know for sure, just taking the dealer's word for it. He also told me Can Am laser alignment was done on all new Spyders before sending them to dealers! My 2013 had the 998cc engine and my new 2016 Spyder has the 1330cc engine! I sure some of the guys on this site knows for sure about the early 2014's! The RS's had the 998cc engines to a later date than the RT's!

The dealer is either uninformed or feeding a large helping of BS. All 2014 RT versions had the 1330 engine in them. BRP does not laser align Spyders at the factory. Wish they did, but those in the know say that 90% or more come to the dealer needing alignment. The 1330 engine is in RT and F3 configurations from 2014 and up. RS has never had 1330--just the 998 engines. RS and the 998 are now discontinued.

    Sorry...
BRP made the frame changes in 2013; anticipating that the 1330 would be ready for that year.
    It wasn't...
There are no 2014 RTs will 998s under the hood.

With Bob. And again this was the sole contributing factor to the initial issues with the 2013 RT. They made the changes in frame and all but found that the 1330 was not yet ready, so they slapped the 998 in them, oops! The factory fixes worked and they are great.

In any case I know that some on this site despise that model, but I adore mine, except for the 4K service of course.

    Just my worthless opinion.

The reason I asked was at 4500 /5000 rpm as he said he rides at, he would be close to 90/100 mph, not really vacations speeds.

And now this is only my opinion, but the speedo on the 2015 RT Limited show a break in the line thickness that goes around the edge of the speed numbers at around 7500 rpm and turns white, I think that indicates red line. How many 1330 riders know there is a rev limiter on the Spyders? Not opinion is that Can Am limits the engine speed to 82000 rpm, and the Spyder is only starting to run at 6,000 rpm. To say you are riding it too hard is like telling a sport bike rider he shouldn't ride over 4,ooo rpm

I know that all 's have rev limiters on them. I have never pushed the red line or the rev limiter. They go plenty fast for me.
