    Default Alignment Woes

Beware if you have an alignment done. Took my Spyder RTS to dealer and had new tires put on. Old tires were worn but worn straight. Had dealer do an alignment anyway. Drove Spyder 328 miles from home to Maggie Valley. What a handful it was. Arrived in Maggie Valley with 2 brand new tires worn completely to the cords on the inside edges. Can't seem to find a good dealer in the southeast.

To wear out tires on a light vehicle that fast you would have felt it and seen it before leaving the lot. It would have to be toed out by many inches. I don't know if there is that much range to the adjustment.???

    Default Yikes...!!

They did not have the proper equipment or the right tech. I have never heard of even bad tires wearing out in 328 miles. Would be nice to know what tires you put on and what equipment that shop had. I would also document it and for sure head back there for a new set....

    This doesn't seem possible...

I'd say that your dealer owes you for a set of tires!

IMO, not only does the dealer owe you a new set of tires, he owes you a complete, correctly done alignment, ideally a refund of your alignment charge and a complementary corrected one.

I'm not sure that I'd even trust them to check the tire pressures correctly...

This guy must be their alignment specialist...

I can't imagine wearing out the tires in a few hundred miles, wasn't there a major handling problem on the highway? It would seem that toe-in alone won't do it, does the Spyder have camber alignment? Still seems close to unrealistic

You are playing Russian Roulette with anything but the ROLO Laser alignment process. And it needs to be done by a competent tech. I have seen dealerships just guessing on alignment of the Spyder. Giving it a turn or 2 in the 'Right' direction. I am not saying that is what happened in your case because I have no idea. But if they did not use the Rolo Laser system then you most likely wasted your money.

The Rolo system is the real deal. Everything else is no deal at all.

Perhaps it's just a case of "Hyperbole" having a better Press Agent, than "Bull-"...

I'm NOT dissing you ...However ......I see you've been here for over 10 months, you don't post much and I'm guessing possibly read even less .... It's a well known and dis-cussed fact that the BRP alignment method ....SUC*S ... also been very recommended to ONLY get the ROLO - TRUTRAC LAZER alignment done......I agree with the other poster who suggested the STEALER who SCREWED yours up ..... re-place your tires - re-fund all your money, and pay to have the alignment corrected with someone who can do it correctly....... You can learn a HUGH amount here but you have to READ what's going on.........jmho......Mike

I can recommend Matthews Fun Machines just over the border in Charlotte. My 2015 RTL was laser aligned by them and rides perfectly. I have 5000 miles on factory tires and they still look brand new. They even sent me on a 70 mile scenic ride on a new F3 while mine was being aligned. I actually feel bad that I didn't by from them, but the dealer I bought it from doesn't do laser alignment.
