Digital display affected by heat
Where I live in the north of France, this week the temperature has soared into the 30's, unusual for here, however I left my RT in the sunshine, when I switched on the digital display had 2 black bands top and bottom, as the display cooled down they disappeared, I know LCD can be affected by temperature but has anyone else had this problem.

Yes, had it happen to me once and others here have complained about this also.

Some folks will pull out the "warning card", for use as a shade for the display...

shade.
I put my driving gloves over the display. You have to put them some place. Stops the lines. Ride on...
If I can't fix it, I will fix it so no one can fix it. Sypder Loco!

Interesting about the display lines. Has anyone ever killed one?

I've heard of plenty of clusters being replaced but the trouble is almost always wonky analog speedo or tach not the lcd.

Hi SPECTACUALR SPIDERMAN,

Yes. Not "quite warm" more like stinking hot, got up to 38 degrees one day.

Be surprised if one died, LCD usually reurns to normal when the temperature drops, pretty robust things

Happens.....
As mentioned, pulling the safety card down is a quick easy way to prevent this. I also do it when the sun is to my back on long straight roads. Now if you have a pull over cover it will be even better to keep the seat cool and people off.

I have this happen at least 25 times this summer on 90+ days. I'm glad this tread was started, because I never thought of pulling the safety card down to protect it. Great tip.
I've seen this on $3k+ 2 way radios in direct sunlight for extended periods do this as well.

Arizona Hot
I have a 2013 RTS and regularly ride in over 100 in the summer and have had a few rides in over 110 and never had the display problem. But we have a dry heat, maybe it is a temp/humidity problem.

Had the exact same issue this spring while in South Carolina and Georgia. Temps in high 90's. You description is exactly what happened to mine. I thought I was going to have problems with the bike while out for the next week and half. Temps drop display comes back to normal.
