Default newtons to lbs belt tension

when laser alignment was done , my belt and rear tire alignment
was set. i had the 70 up vibration like most. dealer set the belt at
what they told me was 1100 newtons. using the conversion thats
about 250 # tension . i havent gotten a kricket yet, but that sounds
mucho tight but its within spyder specs. the vibration now moved down
to the low 50's up to 60 on acceleration in 6th gear only. took it back and
they told me you cant have it both ways. think i would rather have it at
70 plus. what are most of you running ?
when i had my victory, you had to wait till the belt was dead cold
because it tightens as it warms as it has kevlar belts . how does this
compare to a brp belt? anyone know much about these ? irv

ps- the vibration now is livable. just worries me. you can feel it.

    Default NO VIBES

I use the KritKit to set lbs........and I only measure it " TIRE ON THE GROUND " ( it's much easier & just as valid ).... I have my 2014 RT at 185 lbs., and as stated above I have NO VIBES ....Mike

A newton is a measurement of force, your belt is adjusted to a tension. Something like the force necessary to accelerate 1 KG at a rate of 1000 meters per second squared, if I remember right.

    Default Let's see....

If you were having the vibrations at 70mph and once adjusted the vibrations are now at 50/60 mph it would seem they are going the wrong way. As Mike stated running it lower would be better. I run at about 180/185 and have no problems. I do have a tensioner as well....

When I had my bike in for servicing: the dealer tightened the belt up.
The Harmonic vibration that I had been feeling has disappeared, but my fuel mileage has dropped by approximately 15%
    Has anyone else noticed this?

Tighter = more FRICTION + more WEAR on all components in-volved .......But don't take my word on this wait un-til someone you trust says it like BAJARON ..........or Sledmaster .............Mike

I run the 2015 RT at 160 with the wheel elevated which seems close to 180 on the ground. I then adjust the smooth spyder to mid range with the passenger on board. Still get some vibration on ocassion but very little.
