Default RAIN GEAR (Best brand & Best Price)

What is the best rain gear, BUT the best value for the money. I want jacket/pants combo, and don't want to spend $100 for a once in a blue moon item. Give me some of your thoughts of what you have, and why you like them, the prices, and where is the best place to order or buy them. My problem is that I am short legged (28-29" inseam) so the last set that I tried on, was a men's medium, and jacket fit great, and pants did too, but they were probably 6" or more too long.
Big ride coming up in 3 weeks and need some rain gear just in case. I would have gone on a ride today in southeast Ohio, but didn't want to drive 260 miles there with no rain gear.

I live in the Detroit metro area, and don't think that there is really any place that would have a big selection of rain gear.

I would recommend Frogg Toggs. You can get them at Cycle Gear, from Amazon and I believe one of our sponsors carry them. Being a rather large person I have to get the pants in 3x - so of course they are about 6 inches too long! I just have to get around to hemming them up one of these days!!! They are reasonably priced and are very good at keeping you dry.

I'm partial to Frog Togs. Very lightweight and folds up into a very small package, which doesn't take up much space in the Frunk or trunk. I've been caught in some very heavy rain, and they've kept me dry as a bone.

Living in Arizona, I don't have to use them much, but when I need them, they serve the purpose well.

You can usually find a set of pants and jacket on Amazon for under $50

I've had good luck with Stearns from Wally World. Like ya said, it doesn't pay to spend a ton on something you'll rarely use, and we've found that Stearns fits the bill.

In almost 40 years of riding: I've purchased three TourMaster one-piece suits.
NONE of them has ever let me down!
    (But if you prefer a two-piece setup: it's Frogg-Toggs!)

We just got back from a ride for some dinner...
Within 4 miles of home: the skies opened-up on us.
Being stubborn; we just rode it out...
I actually didn't get much more than a bit damp around the edges.
The Missus' shirt was definitely wet from the top of her shoulders, down to the bottom of her shoulder blades.
The passenger definitely gets the most weather, when the skies darken...

Good choice! You're always better off with two piece rather than one piece for those times when you really only need the jacket.

It's kind of funny how it works. When you don't have have rain gear you always run into rain. When you have it, you rarely need it. Sometimes it is nice for staying warm on those cool days.

    Default Frogg Toggs

We have had three different rain suits and the frog togs Toads are the best. They come in two piece suits and are very good. Bought them at Gander Mountain, but you may be able to get on the internet. Good luck.

Might I suggest contacting BajaRon at fyredad@hotmail.com. He's a site sponsor, incredibly knowledgeable about his wide selection of products and reasonable prices.
The First Gear combo I bought from him is far, far better than any other rain gear I've ever owned.

So in Utah it doesn't rain all that much and we are in a drought these days. I bought my Frogg Toggs at Walmart pants and Jacket and stuff bag for under $30.00 I have had them 4 years, used them twice they worked very well. It was a challenge to refo;d them to fit in the little bag but I got em in.

yes Frogg Toggs are great They are very light weight and they are breathable. So you don't get all sweaty after it stops raining. I always buy a size bigger than I wear so that way their easier to get on and they don't pull up so bad off your boots when you sat down on the seat.

There are so many versions of Frogg Toggs. I looked at Cabela's today, and really didn't like the ones that they had. No velcro at the sleeves, just elastic, the legs around ankles had no adjustment or stirup, and they sell them seperate, pants and jackets. There was a different feel to all the ones that they had. They had the pro jacket. Kind of felt like the woven paper/plastic shopping bags you can buy for a dollar, at the store. They are super light weight and would fold up easily.
Bought wife a Nelson Riggs 6000 yesterday, but didn't have my size. Not sure of it though, I think that it will stick to you when it gets hot. Vinyl lined. I have also been looking at a Joe Rocket. Thanks for all the input, whether I buy Frogg Toggs or not, your info is very appreciated. I like input on things, especially when it comes to spending money on something.

Yeah, the Frog Toggs feel like they're made out of paper towels, but they do an incredible job of shedding rain. The advantage is that they are lightweight and don't take up much of your precious cargo space.

There are many choices. The ultimate decision is up to you.

    Default Check this suit out......

Take a look at this from Leatherup.com

    http://www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Moto...rap/95662.html

My wife and I have worn these for three years and have never had a problem. I agree with you in that I did not want to spent a lot of money for something that I only wear once in a while. It does fold up nice and will easily fit in the door of the side compartments, with the elastic net keeper installed, on my RT. The best part is that the price is right for only $39.95. This suit has all of the features that you were looking for.
