Gas Mileage
Just tell me how we go from gas mileage to an etymology; study of words. (he-he)

When I was a young man I always wondered why they called old men "old farts". Now that I am one, well... lets just say that I no longer have to wonder.

Filled up today, 36.1 mpg! Not too bad for only having 647 miles on my Spyder. Best tank so far was 39.2.

Took a little ride this evening- had to fuel up before I got home.. 38.4 MPG
Guess that qualifies me as an old man.... Was headed into the wind going East for 80 miles, then after dinner got to ride with the wind on the way home. I really got to work at it to get less than 35 MPG, and have generally been able to get to 200 miles before I fill up now that the 1330 is broke in. Got to 215 miles and put 5.6 in the tank running 65-68 mph.

MILEAGE
I get over 50 every fill up, but I guess that could be the bigger gallon in Canada. HaHa. 2015 RTL with 2 up most of the time.

My 2014 RT Limited got 44 mpg one time...now most of the time it's around 40-41mpg (I check it every time I fuel up). What's interesting is that prior to 8000 miles, it was only getting average 33-35. The mpg went up after I had some work done on the bike (not related to the engine) but where they moved panels etc... mpg jumped up to 40 immediately.
I didn't understand why at the time...but sometimes the reason is connected to an event that is seemingly unrelated. Here's what I mean:
Recently I had a headlight go out and I changed it (actually I changed all of them to LEDs) myself which requires taking off a lot of the panels and both mirrors. While doing so, I discovered that the air breather hose under the left side panel near the fog light had not been connected correctly (by a mechanic)... it was just hanging loose...it's not easy to connect and if the mechanic is in a hurry (i.e. during a simple oil change, etc) he could just put all panels back on not double checking and inspecting everything and you would never know it's not right. These types of things can affect your millage.
The hose I'm talking about is not easy to get to and requires a little effort to connect...I reconnected it properly and the bike is running fine. I would never have known had I not had the panels off and personally inspecting. The millage for the 1330's should be in the 40 mpg range...(whether you're old or not) unless you're just dogin the fire out of it!
You might have something simple like a misconnected hose, etc. Nearly everyone I hear from on the 1330's gets in upper 30's to lower 40's mpg.

mileage - wow
Mine depends on what gas I use. Best mileage on 91-93 octane and no ethanol. Has run anywhere from 32.6 to 40.8 in the 4600 miles I have on it since new. But I think mileage and fishing have lot in common, seems the more its discussed the more or bigger things get....lol SAFE RIDING!
