Hand guards are great! Like a fairing for your hands, blocks wind and debris.

Kind of an old thread, but I also plan on putting hand guards on my upcoming F3-S. Gonna install the same type I had on my FZ-09, that also used a 6mm thread style. Buy some Acerbis X-tarmac knock offs for $37 and head down to your local hardware store for: (2) longer 6mm SS 6mm bolts, (2) washers and a couple rubber washers to put between the guard arm and Spyber bar end. Total investment of about $40. They work great, have a carbon fiber look and removable wind deflector. Here's a couple pix from a past FZ09.

I put some handguards on my V-Strom, they were SUzuki OEM accessories so they fit like they were purpose-built (ha). As noted earlier, they are wonderful in cold weather, and they keep bugs and pebbles from smacking your knuckles in warm weather.

Geeez .. I had it ready. They use a single point mount (bar end), and not a handlebar secondary point. They hold firm at speed.

Buy Harley or BMW factory accessories. Just as expensive as Can-Am

I mounted a set of CanAm ATV handguards on my F3S only to discover that they covered a good portion of the mirrors when I was on the road. Bummer.

I see that on multiple threads. Not gonna spend a lot of $$ in the event that's the case.

$25 for a set of CanAm ATV handguards. Mounting is up to you though.

Just ordered a set of these, with accepted offer of $40 and shipped from NJ (already in the mail).. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pair-Moto...72.m2749.l2649
Could have gotten them for $25 from China, but didn't want to wait 3-4 weeks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pair-Moto...72.m2749.l2649
I'll likely have them mounted up this coming weekend. I'll post results/pix.

I would have thought that, if the guards blocked the mirrors - so would your hands....

From what I have seen - plus my own - the guards are larger than your hand on the grip and also farther forward.

This was one of the few mods I had been considering doing. Was wondering why Can-Am would offer them for their other models like the Ryker, but not the F3. I'm betting they couldn't come up with a reliable mounting solution that wouldn't obscure the rearview mirrors. This thread may have saved me some time, money, & considerable trouble...

Mine should arrive today. I'll post some pix tonite.
** Got them on. $40 + $3.50 for some longer bolts/washers/rubber washers. I think they look good for the F3-S black. The clear plastic extensions interfere a bit with the mirrors. Take them off and almost a clear view. **

I went this route as well—How are they holding up?

Mine are holding up well. I did replace the OEM nut/bolt holding the guard to the arm. At highway speeds, the arm would slowly fold in with the OEM bolt/recessed nut. I went with a longer bolt, washer at each end and a nut (all stainless steel) to be able to tighten down. No more issues.
