I love them on my KTM! Not just temps, but bugs, rocks, rain - blocks all of that. At first, I thought they looked goofy. First long trip, discovered hundreds of dead bugs, nicks, chips....all of which would have been on my gloved hands. They rock! I'm seeing them on lots of custom bikes, as well. Great idea! I'll make you a deal, you come up and live in Northern Canada with the temperatures we have here and you will understand Not to mention the number of huge bugs that I've taken to the knuckles that leave welts (June bugs, wasps, bees - more than what you have down there in Louisiana due to the insane heat). I know this because I went from Canada to New Orleans last year. In NO you definitely wouldn't need something like these, but you and I live in very different worlds

Sorry took while to get back on this topic. Id jump on the deal if I could bring (redneck) my guns. Not against the idea, just see gloves as better option (cheaper, provide more protection) &safely think we got you beat on bugs. Thx to all that swampy heat.

Per your wasp heh well know that they are more active in the heat & quite popular in my area. Here is a cicada killer wasp shell from my attempt at collecting the crazy bugs ive come across & one of the larger June bugs im guessing you've never had to duct-tape your sleeves tight closed around your wrist , or pants leg to your boot? Few welps on the knuckles is mild. (Would you agree?)

I saw a post some time ago about someone installing Hand Guards on their F3S. I am getting around to doing it now and was wondering if you could point in the right direction on what I will need. (btw I have an SE6 so no clutch reservoir to worry about).
I am not sure what the diameter of the handlebars are and what the threaded ends of the handlebar are either...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How tough was the install? When I pulled off the throttle side handlebar end cap it didn't look like there was a lot of room to install the handguards with the spring that was in there. Any tips or tricks? And what part number did you use for the installation kit? Was it the universal one.
There are a considerable number of road bikes with hand guards, as they are very useful in keeping the wind off the hands in cooler weather. Especially useful in those climates where it doesn't snow! Thus, year round riding.
Not to mention Rocks and road debris.

There's many riders on the FJR1300 forum (including myself) that installed hand guards on their bike. On a cold morning they can make 30 deg seem like 40 deg. A big help when you factor in wind chill and you don't have heated grips !
I used the hand guards from the Suzuki DL1000.
Not sure if they could be made to fit the Spyder though.
But now .... I have heated grips. Haven't used them yet but I got 'em

I am thinking they would bea great add to my bike for fall and early spring, in the morning the ride to work can be quite cold and if you keep the wind off your hands that is half the battle off staying warm .
oh and also for those upsate ny bugs in the middle of summer can leave welts and bruises
The Barkbuster Endmount Storm on my F3S with a close up of the mounting. With the frigid arctic blast from the north it only got to 64F yesterday and today. Of course I went ryding.
I mounted these on my 2016 F3-L: Barkbusters STORM Single Point Bar End Mount Handguard Kit for 6mm & 8mm Internal Threaded Bar Ends | STM-007 STORM. SKU: BB.STM-007-01-BK Works great for cold weather riding.
Put a set of Heated Grips homemade for $20 behind or in them. A good pair of ski gloves which are insulated mostly on the back while less so on the palm (for gripping poles) work well with heated grips. Follow the link.

Very interested in this thread. I would like to add hand guards to my F3L. I had them on my BMW's and they are very useful here in Canada when temps are low or riding thru bug infested areas. The heated grips help on cold days but they warm up only the inside of the hand and the outside gets cold.
The BarkBusters did not interfere with my rear mirror vision(also have the Tricled convex mirrors). I was able to keep my LidLock helmet holder using longer metric bolt(6mmx60)😎B94EE19C-C0E3-4E7D-8863-1815B6E1DCF1.jpg
