    Default F3 Hand Guards

I saw a post some time ago about someone installing Hand Guards on their F3S. I am getting around to doing it now and was wondering if you could point in the right direction on what I will need. (btw I have an SE6 so no clutch reservoir to worry about).

I am not sure what the diameter of the handlebars are and what the threaded ends of the handlebar are either...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Hand Guards

I was thinking about something like this, but I don't know the diameter of our bars on the F3.

Spend over 20k on a bike a few more $$ on accessories not that big of a deal

Oh, I understand. Regardless, for me, it just seems that so many of the accessories for these bikes are just rather expensive.

I've owned bikes for over 25 years, to include a Gold Wing. It's just I've never seen accessories as costly as what we've seen for the Spyders.

    Default Let's see....

I believe the bars are 7/8" and the bar ends may be a compression fit and not threaded. Check the trail riders like Accerbis etc. they all made the barkbuster types....

    image.jpegimage.jpegHere are a couple pics,
not sure why you would use these on a street bike, but they work good off roading.
you can get a wrap around cover for them to keep your hand warm/dry if you ride in a cold/wet area.

There are a considerable number of road bikes with hand guards, as they are very useful in keeping the wind off the hands in cooler weather. Especially useful in those climates where it doesn't snow! Thus, year round riding.

Very interesting idea! Put lid lox on both handles so I think that leaves me out either way..

I'll make you a deal, you come up and live in Northern Canada with the temperatures we have here and you will understand Not to mention the number of huge bugs that I've taken to the knuckles that leave welts (June bugs, wasps, bees - more than what you have down there in Louisiana due to the insane heat). I know this because I went from Canada to New Orleans last year. In NO you definitely wouldn't need something like these, but you and I live in very different worlds

Sometimes you need to think outside the box.

    Handguards on a motorcycle?!?
Did you know that the mirrors on the RTs do a pretty good job of imitating a decent set of them?
They can be a worthwhile addition for all of the reasons that have been mentioned...

...and it's also a cool way to personalize your bike!

It's sad when people jump onto threads to do nothing but bash a fellow Spyder Ryder's idea for their Own bike...

I get You may not like the idea, but if you have nothing productive to add / support to what a Ryder is asking why comment? If you don't like the idea, just scroll onto the next thread. It's people like you that stifle creativity and original thoughts. I don't want my bike to be like yours and everyone else's, I want something original. I travel over 7000 miles every summer so clearly my needs are different than yours and if you opened your eyes and realized that this thread isn't about You, you might actually be able to contribute some positive ideas just my 2 cents.

So again, if you have something productive to offer, I'd love to hear it! and btw I have an F3 (I came from an '12 RTS, and on the RTS you would not need the hand guards I agree)

You can get several types and sizes of hand guards at Cycle Gear.
Google them to find the store near you .

Excellent, I never even thought about that chain of stores being in Canada, but they do ship to Canada! That definitely gives me more options. Thanks!

In cold weather my wife uses snowmobile grip covers that she slips her hands into. She swears by them because she hates gloves. They slip over the ends of the bars with velcroe.

Barkbusters are single mount for spyders.
if you want to mount around bars and thread ends I suggest you look at BMW GS model guards maybe gs650 they are about the same price here in Australia as barkbusters .
Also try touratech site (Handle bars and fitting section)
