215/60/15 doesn't rub on RT?
I'm going on a trip. Don't have time to order and wait for oem size tire.
Bought a uniroyal tiger paw for $90 cnd. But this thing is alot taller than the OEM.
People who have this size. 215/60/15. Are you sure it doesn't rub on the RT?
thx
Stiff

Get in touch with Mike (BLUEKNIGHT911). He's been using that size for quite a while now.

I have the General AltiMAX RT43 - 215/60R15 and it has plenty of clearance under the fender. Deanna and a few other people have it as well, and will tell you the same thing.

Someone posted a few months back that the Tigerpaw was too tall and rubbed.
As posted above, all tires are different sizes, even if they have the same size stamped on them.
Personally, never cared for the Tigerpaw line. Always seemed more rounded instead of flat/square design.
Hope that helps.

This doesn't help Robert lol. J/king.
I have the uniroyal tiger paw. That's the only tire I could find in this amount of time I have. The general altimax I can't get anywhere and if I can get it,it's back ordered and will take 3 months plus.
So I guess I'll try this. I'll post a review.
Thanks

I live in Canada. So that won't work. Plus we leave Friday for a 3000km trip. So I want to make sure everything is on and good to go. Plus if I need to check belt tension etc I can go to dealer and do it quick.

You should be able to fit most 215/60R15's (altho as mentioned, there are some tires out there that might show that size but are somewhat bigger than all the rest??) I'm running a Kumho Solus KH17 225/60R15 on the rear of my RT with no issues.
There's plenty of room for the 225/60 under the back of my 2013 RT Ltd, altho if I ride thru a patch of sticky mud, the collection of mud that gathers on the tread can sometimes make it look as tho it might rub, but it hasn't yet, so most 215/60's should be fine.

I'm running a 215/60/15 Michelin Primacy on my 2012 RT for 19,000 miles and it does not rub. Plus it makes your speedo more accurate.https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...0r15-215-60r15

I think I've worn out my Altimax at 17,000 miles. It now says "replace tire" instead of "replacement tire indicator"
EDIT: I checked my records and I only got 15,000 miles out of it.

That's discouraging...... I was hoping to get a lot more than that out this tire.

Not too bad for a rear tire,

We've got 18,350 miles on the wifes Kumho on her RT and its down to less than 2/32" usable tread. If we were in a "wet" area, it would be time to change, but with the original tread depth of 9/32" we can probably go another couple thousand until I have some down time to change it. Seems like we got around 23,000 miles on the 2011 SM5 model, but every bike is a little different.
For pure wear, the Michelin Defender was the best on the 2011 RT with plenty of tread depth to start with and good tread still on it when we traded. If I didn't have a Kumho waiting in the garage, I just noticed that Tire Rack has the 215/60R15's on close out sale for 111 and change. We liked the performance on the old RT!

I checked my records and I've only put 15,000 miles on the General Altimax and the "replace tire" is showing.

Bummer, I was expecting better mileage from that tire .............what PSI did you usually run at ????......... I still have my Michelin Hydro-Edge ( and looooove ) with 15,000 and it is barely worn down, it has been excellent in the rain also........Mike

Amazon tires
Thanks, Pam, I hadn't thought about tires from Amazon. I expect the Altimax to be my next tire.

I have had several cusomers with the 215/60 tires come in with rubbing problems in the rear near the fender/mud flaps. Its a much taller tires than OEM.
We sell and install the Yokohama S Drive 205/55 15 as its an exact match to the OEM actual size and a GREAT running tire on the Spyders.

My only concern: Do you think that the 205mm tire might come unseated from the rim a bit more easily than the 225 mm tire, if it runs low on air?
I actually ran my 215 at 12 lbs doing test launches for Drag race purposes ......I marked the rim and tire first ......and they stayed lined up ......I don't think a 205 at 21 lbs is going to move .....jmho...Mike

Interesting ........... I run my Michelin at 21 lbs. because it has much stiffer sidewalls ( as does the Altimax ) ...........The reason BRP and Kenda recommend 28 lbs is because the KENDA... NEEDS higher air pressure to support the weight.....Ask BajaRon He seems to know a bit about tires.......................Mike

JC, I have Mud flaps and so do many, many others here with a 215/60 tire. and they aren't reporting this as an issue....... So maybe the MUDFLAPS you are using are the problem ???????.................just a thought.........Mike
