    Default First Syder code flashing.

We have a 2014 RTL. What does it mean when you have a flashing symbol that looks like your spyder orange on the bottom of your screen ?

If it's a icon of a motorcycle with squiggly lines behind it, in the 5 O'Clock position on the the right side, it's the Nanny Light. It flashes on briefly when the Nanny doesn't like something that you just did. Go really fast around a corner and watch, she'll light up. It basically means the VSS is engaging. If that's what it is, nothing to worry about. Mine flashes often when I go around turns while accelerating.

    Default Flashing icon

One time on mine it was the seat switch. Could be the VSS though, so cross your fingers it's the seat switch or the fuse.

Our 2011 RT done that code when we went around a curve to fast and my wife was leaning the wrong way with the bike. It didn't lose power but we had to stop at a school and reset it. Just cut the bike off and pull the key out of the switch for about 2 or 3 minutes then put the key back in and restart the engine. All was good to go again. Ride Safe

If you leave your trunk unlatched it will flash too but you will see a statement saying that it is open.

IT happend after we started it up. A little orange picture of the spyder flashing on the bottom of the digital screen. My wife drove it to church and when she got back today she said it went off.

Some part of VSS system has a problem. Since it showed up at when the ignition was turned on. May be a self test failure. That is more of a guess. If it happens again. Get the code. Or get the dealer to get the code at the next service.
