Most 1/4 mi tracks require it. I was more into land speed racing a one (1) mile track normally on an abandoned airport strip. I've ran on several with a motorcycle. The safety requirement are quite extensive. Leather boots must be 8" high, Snell rated helmet mnfg within last 5 yrs---endless. Worse for cars--need roll bars, parachute, fire extinguisher, reinforced seat with harness over 150 mph +++. I was planning on running in Oct meet but I'm having safety issues + with race director www.ecta-lsr.com --doesn't look like it will happen even though the Spyder top speed is relatively low.. I've heard Maine decommissioned B52 3 mile stip is excellent(they claim .5" height variance over the 3 mi strip) but it's a 1200 mi one way. The B52's flew over Canada on take off. There's the Texas Mile--another 1200 mi each way. I've heard Bonneville might be over from the previous weather storms :-( But that was 2200 mi each way. Maxton Mile in N.Carolina lost the racing 10 yr lease--it was a fun track laid out with commeradere parking & it was only 525 mi one way (that's my limit).

They won't accept any mickey mouse set up--got's to be durable-sturdy--etc. & they pull it to prove it was wired correctly & it cuts the engine.

SO I would try fishing out the the wire on the factory kill switch and splicing in a set of points from an old points type ignition then separate the points with a piece of leather with a strap to your wrist. Almost fool proof and should pass tech at least it has for years. All the flat trackers had this kind of dead man switch. Good luck with your endeavor.

Doesn't Ski Doo offer tethers for their snowmobiles?
(They even have their own DESS system)
Perhaps you can find something in their catalog, that can be adapted for your use.

Put another switch, your choice of type, under your ass and let it go at that!
