That's what I'd do. Buy a one way ticket to Tampa (early morning) and have the seller pick you up at the airport. Leave for home soon after and stop for the night. You'll be home before you know it. Don't forget to take your jacket, helmet, gloves and rain gear. Oh, and a license plate.

    It'll be a blast!

If not comfortable riding it back, buy trike trailer, pick it up and haul it back. U will have trailer to use, not money spent-wasted- on shipping. IMHO! Niterider

    Default X2 on uhaul

I agree with the above. I rented this trailer, drove to Connecticut from NY. We did experience one tire letting go, but it only added to the experience..we did also use a tri-fold ramp as well as a pair of 2x12's to assist with loading and unloading.

My suggestions, if you can't ride it home yourself (in order of preference)...

    1. Since it's a 2016, I'm guessing you may have bought it from a dealer. What do they suggest?
    2. Use, borrow, or rent a vehicle with a trailer hitch and haul it home with a trailer. Have a dealer help you load and secure it, if needed.
    3. There are motorcycle transport companies you can find on the internet. Some members here may have experience with some of them.
    4. Household Goods carriers are always looking to put together tonnage out of Florida, and may give you a reasonable price. If you choose this option, PM me and I'll tell you how to handle that with a minimum of problems. (My career was in that industry.)

    Default Ride it home

I agree with everyone who says to fly there, taxi to the dealership (or ask them to pick you up), and ride it home. When I was shopping for mine last year, I shopped by phone and internet Florida, Texas, New Mexico, and California dealers and was prepared to fly and ride. I ended up buying mine only 140 miles from home, so it wasn't such a long ride back.

It's got to be cheaper than paying a transport company.

    al0vely,

Re: Anyone better ways to find transport ?

I do not know if they are better, but 2 1/2 yrs ago I found a company on the internet to move my Spyder from Southern California to Oregon ( ~ 850 miles ). The company that I found sub'd it out to:

    http://haulbikes.com/?gclid=CKXDvLeN580CFReUfgod8swC2g

I would recommend HaulBikes if you need them,

If you bought it from a dealer: tell them to pick you up at the airport!

...And ride it home. After all, you didn't buy it for the fun of shipping it around the Country; did you?

Lots of dealers are. Just pick up the phone and start calling. If you're just a tire kicker they won't give you their best deal. If you're a serious buyer, and they'll know, you'll get their best price. Always talk with the sales manager or higher. You want to talk with the decision maker.

You have to be willing to travel a little to get the best deal.

Take a look at Haulbikes.com. Their specialty is hauling bikes in trucks set up specifically for motorcycles, ATVs, and watercraft on trailers. They are the contract hauler for HD trikes. They probably have a lot of hauls between IN and FL this time of year so I don't think you'd have to wait too long to get it.

If this is the one that was on ebay last week, you got a very good deal. I talked to the owner, but then decided to keep my RT and just add another 2 wheeler to my stable. Hope you enjoy your new bike.

Read my post from 4-18-2016 entitled "Shipping nightmare". I have since purchased a 6'x12' utility trailer and will be transporting my Spyder RT back to Fl in October.

Unless this is your second or third Spyder, ryding that far on an unfamiliar machine may not be the wisest thing. I bought mine on a whim in Texas, have had many, many years riding two wheelers. I never considered ryding it from Texas to Georgia ( now that Iv'e had it a couple of years , different story!)

Anyway, bought a trailer in Texas for the peace of mind. I have since used that trailer many times and not just for hauling the Spyder. Worth every dollar, IMHO.

I know of at least 3-4 trustworthy dealers that I think would beat the list price. If you can't find any, PM me.

I have to agree with the "buy your own trailer" group. You will find so many uses for it you'll wonder how you ever got along with out it. In my case my wife just does not like to ride long distance so if we are going out of the area I haul the Spyder there then do the rides in the area then haul it home. She's happy (most important part) and since she is riding with me,I'm happy. I also use it to haul it the dealer. He is 100 miles away and i always have to leave it so that gives me a ride home.I would look for something in Florida then you only have to haul one way.

If purchased from a dealer, they can ship it for you.. maybe an extra $300? I've seen a spyder go from FL to CA for $650
