    Default Tire Wear

As a GENERAL rule, tread wear across the tire is a result of tire pressure. Higher pressure causes center tread wear-lower pressure causes outer tread wear. If you are carrying a heavier load, more pressure is required than with a lighter load. I weigh 180 and seldom carry a passanger and get even tread wear with 15lbs in the fronts and 20lb in the rear. The rear tire was replaced @ 12,000 with perhaps another 1,000 safe miles left. The fronts still look new.

anyone else running only 20lbs in the rear tire? I thought the recommendation was closer to 30lbs.

    Default milage

7,100mi and I roast it all the time! Was into all wear bars. My triumph rocket has rarely made it past 3K! Was 330dolla at stealership tax an all. lets see now, twice the milage, half the cost. I can live with that!

Greg, just use common scense. I have gotten 28,000 miles out of a stock Yamaha RoyalStar Venture tire. Yes, it was a bit too much. I don't know how much I will get on the Spyder, but with my ultra conservative riding style it may be a record. My wife and I ride for the sheer pleasure of riding. For us, it's the miles and the scenery that matter. I don't intend on riding in the rain in such a manner as to invite hydro-plaining. I run 20 pounds in front and 30 in rear and I am using Ride-On Tire Sealer. I have about 6600 miles and almost to the wear marks. I will not even be concerned until I am well into 1/2 of the wear marks. My goal? 30,000 miles. We'll see...

Wow! I'm at just about 8,800 miles now. And, the tread is now just about at the outside wear marks. And, I've never done burnouts, or ridden that aggressively. At least, I didn't think, I did.

Interesting. And, I keep the pressure at about 28psi in the rear.
